Mali announce squad for upcoming FIFA U-17 World Cup 2023

Mali lost the 2015 final to Nigeria

By making it to the semifinals of the CAF 2023 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, Mali secured their trip to Indonesia. They defeated Congo DR in the round of eight before falling to Morocco in the semifinals via a penalty shootout.

After coaching the U-15 team, the former Freiburg and Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder assumed leadership of the Mali U-17 team last year. As a player, Coulibaly captained his nation and earned a total of 60 professional caps for Mali.

One of the main creative forces for Mali is the gifted forward Diarra. The team’s dynamic winger, who also serves as captain, contributed three assists to his country’s earlier-year journey to the U-17 AFCON semifinals. Although Diarra is a player for Africa Foot right now, several elite European clubs are reportedly keeping an eye on her.

Mali will compete in its sixth FIFA U-17 World Cup in Indonesia in 2023. They participated in the competition for the first time in 1997, and in 2015, when they placed second to Nigeria under the guidance of Victor Osimhen, they gave their greatest performance.
