Well prepared for tomorrow, equipped with a clear strategy, asserts Sergio Lobera
The Odisha FC coach said he has unwavering confidence in his players, irrespective of any potential suspensions or injuries.
Odisha FC is scheduled to face Punjab FC tomorrow, December 26th, as they step onto the field at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.
It will mark the first encounter between the two clubs. Odisha FC has demonstrated strong form this year, remaining undefeated in their last six matches, while Punjab FC has only secured one victory in their 11 games this season in the Indian Super League (ISL).
The pre-match press conference for Odisha FC was attended by head coach Sergio Lobera and player Sahil Panwar, who looked determined not just to take three points in the next match but also solidifying their game in their last fixture of the year after tomorrow’s encounter.
About the opponent
Punjab FC has gained some positivity from their last match win against Chennaiyin FC. Coach Sergio Lobera also praised the team and their work ethics, as he said, “I think they are playing very well, they are trying to play good football. I like the team very much. Obviously the first year in this competition is very difficult, the adaptation, the progress, but the last win I think gave them motivation for this game. After all the drama is like that, but we are excited about the game, we are excited to take points before the break.”
Focus on the next match
When asked about the focus on the game and the plan regarding their next match, Sergio replied, “The most important thing is to be loyal to our style of play. We know we are going to play against a team who played very well in their last game. We need to be loyal to all the players. The most important thing is to focus on ourselves.”
“We are well-prepared for tomorrow, equipped with a clear strategy and understanding of our roles. We are committed to giving our utmost effort to secure victory in the upcoming game”, added by Sahil Panwar.
Puitea missing out due to suspension
In absence of Puitea, Odisha FC will take the field with their next best at the position in the game. Sergio stated, “As a coach, it is imperative to have the full squad available. However, there should be no room for excuses. In the pursuit of significant victories, having the complete team is essential. This is not contingent on individual players, and I am not referring to the challenges posed by injuries or suspensions. With a roster of 30 players at my disposal, the utilization of one, two or three players alone cannot guarantee success.”
“This is a commonplace scenario that necessitates directing our attention to the available players. I maintain unwavering confidence in my players, irrespective of any potential suspensions or injuries”, he added at the end.
