Vignesh Dakshinamurthy has previously worked with Odisha boss Sergio Lobera at Mumbai City FC.
Hyderabad FC, facing financial constraints, have opted to loan out promising left-back Vignesh Dakshinamurthy to Odisha FC until the culmination of the 2023-24 season. This strategic move serves a dual purpose for the Nizams, easing immediate financial burdens while providing Dakshinamurthy with an opportunity to further develop his skills and gain valuable playing time.
Dakshinamurthy, a young and talented full-back, had inked a four-year deal with Hyderabad FC during the summer. He was part of a deal which saw Akash Mishra join Mumbai City FC. However, the current financial troubles have necessitated pragmatic measures to mitigate debts owed to players and staff.
The announcement of Vignesh Dakshinamurthy’s loan move was made on the club’s official social media handle, and the statement read, “UPDATE: Left-back Vignesh Dakshinamurthy joins Odisha FC on loan till the end of the 2023-24 season!”
For Odisha FC, led by the experienced Sergio Lobera, this acquisition presents a golden opportunity to bolster their defensive line-up. Dakshinamurthy joins the ranks of another talented left-back, Jerry Lalrinzuala, forming a formidable duo that adds depth and quality to Odisha FC’s squad.
Vignesh did not have the best of starts at the Nizams, having played less than 300 minutes in six games. Lobera who has previously worked with Vignesh during his time at Mumbai City FC, will work with him again to strike a new partnership at Odisha FC.
Odisha FC are placed in Group D along with FC Goa, Bengaluru FC and Inter Kashi, and would look to retain the Kalinga Super Cup title at home.
