Anthony Martial set to depart Man United in 2024
Anthony Martial will become a free agent next season
Reports state that when Anthony Martial’s deal runs after this season, Manchester United does not plan to exercise the option to renew it.
The French striker is in the last year of his contract at Old Trafford, and the team may extend it by another year. However, The Athletic claims that the United management has no intention of signing Martial to a new contract and is willing to let him go for free at the end of the current campaign.
In 2019, Anthony Martial re-signed with the Red Devils for a five-year contract that was reportedly worth £250,000 a week. The deal included an option that allowed United to prolong Martial’s tenure by an additional year.
Although interested teams will be aware that Martial can be acquired for nothing in the summer, United’s reluctance to extend his contract might mean a possible January departure for the attacker.
Martial became the most valuable teenager in the sport’s history when he signed a £36 million contract to join United from French team Monaco back in 2015.

Three incentive clauses totalling £7.2 million each were included in his original contract, raising the possible fee to £57.6 million. The entire amount paid was ultimately £44.7 million.
One of the stipulations focused on the French forward’s chances of earning the Ballon d’Or, football’s most coveted personal award.
Following a promising beginning to his Manchester United career—which included an incredible solo strike on his debut against Liverpool—Martial has failed to live up to the hype and find his best form at Old Trafford.
Anthony Martial has only scored 90 goals in 317 appearances in his eight years with the team. When he scored 23 goals in 48 games in 2019–20, it was his highest season total.
In the Premier League, Martial has not played for ninety minutes since January 2021, when Sheffield United defeated United 2-1 at home. Additionally, the Frenchman had a terrible six-month loan stint at Sevilla in January of last year.
