Cape Verde makes their fourth appearance

Cape Verde have announced their squad for the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023. This is their fourth appearance and have reached the quarterfinals in their first appearance.

Former Manchester United forward Tiago Manuel Dias ‘Bebe’ Correia has been named in Cape Verde’s squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations next month.

The Portugal-born switched nationalities to represent the country of his parents in 2022.

Although he was expected to make the team for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, which was held in Cameroon last year, he was not invited.

Cape Verde have been drawn in Group B alongside the Black Stars, seven-time champions Egypt and Mozambique.

Cape Verde begins their group games the day after when they face Ghana, they then take on Mozambique on Friday, 19 January before the Blue Sharks finish their group games against the AFCON 2021 runners-up, Egypt on Monday, 22 January.
