Ederson misses Manchester City training ahead of Champions League clash against Crvena zvezda
Ederson has been the first choice for Man City since the 2017-18 season
Ederson did not show up for Manchester City’s Tuesday practice, although he is not anticipated to be sidelined for a lengthy time.
With little chance of being caught at the top of the group, City will play their final Group G match in the Champions League on Wednesday against Crvena Zvezda. Regardless of Wednesday’s outcome, the hosts will finish fourth in the group and will not advance to the Europa League or the last-16.
This provides Pep Guardiola the freedom to switch up his lineup and rest a few important players. Ederson, whose absence from practice on Tuesday was attributed to sickness rather than injury, is a strong contender to miss time.
Stefan Ortega, who is making his fifth appearance of the season, is expected to start in his post as City’s backup custodian. He participated in City’s final Champions League match, which was played at home against RB Leipzig, when Guardiola made the decision to rest Ederson after coming back from international service.

With neither youth goalies seen at practice on Tuesday due to an upcoming UEFA Youth League match on Wednesday, Scott Carson will serve as backup.
Brian Barry-Murphy’s under-19 team, who won their group and advanced to the next round without incident, has alternated between True Grant and George Murray-Jones in goal.
Guardiola summoned up four youth players for practice on Tuesday, although Erling Haaland, Jeremy Doku, and Kevin De Bruyne are still sidelined.
Since he is too old to play in the Youth League, forward Micah Hamilton has already started for City in the Champions League as a substitute. Max Alleyne, the centre defender, and midfielders Mahamadou Susoho and Kane Taylor were also given opportunities to show off to Guardiola.
