Erling Haaland has provided Manchester City with a noteworthy injury update. Earlier this week, the Norwegian striker announced his withdrawal from FIFA Club World Cup duty.
The 23-year-old striker was left off of Manchester City’s 23-man roster in advance of their Tuesday night Club World Cup semi-final matchup against Urawa Red Diamonds, in addition to Jeremy Doku and Kevin De Bruyne.
Since Manchester City’s roster must stay unchanged for both the league’s semifinal and final, they will have to face Brazilian powerhouse Fluminense sans Haaland, regardless of his health, according to competition regulations.

The news concerning Erling Haaland, nevertheless, will give City hope. On Wednesday, the primary club media outlets disclosed that the forward for Norway had resumed on-field practice and had been pictured in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with a ball at his feet.
According to Manchester City’s French consideration, Erling Haaland resumed practice on Wednesday. Pep Guardiola had previously disclosed, following the team’s 0-3 victory against Urawa Reds, that the striker’s ankle issue had prevented him from practising with the first squad.

“The day after (Aston) Villa, he could almost not walk properly,” Guardiola said on December 10. “Yesterday I spoke to him, (he was) saying, ‘I feel much better, I can walk, I have no pain’. That’s why we have to see how he is day by day.”
Erling Haaland has resumed practising this week, so Pep Guardiola and the Manchester City staff of coaches will perhaps feel more confident about the player’s fitness for their upcoming Premier League match, which is an away trip to Everton after Boxing Day.
