Newcastle's Joelinton out for six weeks with thigh injury

The Magpies are already ravaged with plenty of injuries this season
Joelinton, a midfielder for Newcastle United, will be sidelined for at least six weeks due to a thigh injury. The 27-year-old sustained a quad injury on Saturday during the Magpies’ 3-0 FA Cup victory over Sunderland.
For the season, the Brazil international has played 23 appearances, contributing four assists and three goals.
Eddie Howe, the manager of Newcastle, stated on Friday: “We have had to try and pick him up. He is our midfield driving force, it is a big blow.”
‘It’s a real blow for us because he’s such an important player. He’s had a very stop-start season, unfortunately, this year where he was so consistent last year in his selection.
‘He’s had a few different problems and this is a big blow.’
Concerning the injury, Eddie Howe went on to say:
‘He’s got a problem with a tendon in his quad. Without going too detailed, it’s a very difficult place to get an injury, hence the timescale that he’s going to be out.
‘He’s very disappointed. He wants to play, he wants to do well, so we’ve had a job of trying to pick Joe up.

“The prospects over the next couple of weeks aren’t good,” said the Magpies boss. “It’s an injury that will see him miss probably a minimum of six weeks. It’s a real blow for us because he’s such an important player.
“He’s had a very stop-start season, unfortunately. He was so consistent last year in his selection, but this year he’s had a few different problems.
“It’s another freak injury where he was off balance, got pushed in the back, and his leg goes at an awkward angle and ends up with an injury. Unfortunately, for us, any injury we’ve picked up this year hasn’t been a one or two-week one, it’s been six-to-eight weeks. We’re really stretched in the attacking and midfield areas, and we have been for a long time.”
After a ten-day layoff following the Manchester City match, Jacob Murphy is back in moderate exercise and may be able to play in the away match at Aston Villa.
In the past week or two, Harvey Barnes has also intensified his rehabilitation regimen, but he is still a little ways off from rejoining the first squad.
Although Callum Wilson continues to heal from his hamstring issues, he might be available to play against Villa at the close of this month.
