Can Uzun of Bundesliga 2 club Nurnberg is a transfer target for Borussia Dortmund and he could be possibly earning a move to the Bundesliga giants.

According to BILD, amid the uncertainty of the future of Marco Reus, Borussia Dortmund are beginning to look for the 34-year-old’s successor and Nürnberg’s Can Uzun is an option.

Dortmund will eventually look for a playmaker who could replace their long-servant Marco Reus, once he retires. However, Dortmund will face competition from a host of clubs for Uzun as Bayern Munich, Sevilla, Brighton and Galatasaray have all at one point shown interest in the 18-year-old.

A key component of Uzun’s future is his playing time and it may not be guaranteed at these clubs. At the same time, at Eintracht Frankfurt, who have also shown interest, he will likely play more whilst also continuing to play with his friend Nathanial Brown who is set to move the club.

In his first full season at Nurnberg, Uzun has played 17 times scoring nine and assisting twice. What is certain is that this will be his last season playing for the Franconia club.

Dortmund’s alleged interest in Uzun comes at a strange time considering the club’s current roster of strikers but also may hint at the possible departure of players already in their ranks.

Sebastien Haller’s general fitness has already been a point of worry for the club’s higher-ups, with his future very much uncertain at this time. It may indeed be Haller’s current form that prompts the club to spring for Uzun either this winter or the following summer, but much remains uncertain at this time.

There is also still the question of Youssoufa Moukoko who remains on the fringes, and it looks like Dortmund are also looking to give Paris Brunner a professional contract very shortly. All this points to even more uncertainty over a position in Dortmund are currently not lacking talent.
