Chelsea plan to trigger Callum Wilson's release clause in January

Callum Wilson has scored 86 goals in the Premier League
Chelsea are willing to meet Newcastle’s €21 million (£18 million) asking price for Callum Wilson because they respect the player, according to FootballTransfers. During this transfer window or in the summer, a move for the England international might override the Blues’ belief in developing young players.
Wilson, who has scored 26 goals in 45 Premier League games, is viewed as a strong contender by Chelsea, who are searching for a goal guarantee. In addition, Wilson can provide crucial experience playing alongside players like Nicolas Jackson.
FootballTransfers says that Wilson may receive less playing time than he may receive at Newcastle, but Wilson is thought by Chelsea to be able to provide quality for at least the next 18 months.
Kieran Trippier seemed on the verge of joining Bayern Munich, but the Bundesliga powerhouses have decided not to make a third offer not less than for the time being. The Magpies are aiming to add a midfield player to the squad at this point in the season, but they must sell to acquire.
While Anthony Gordon can also play central, Alexander Isak is an obvious centre-forward.

The club would prefer to find a successor for Sandro Tonali than to hold onto Wilson, particularly as Joelinton is currently sidelined due to a long-term injury and Elliot Anderson continues to struggle with a back problem.
Wilson’s contract expires in 2025, and it is believed that the Magpies would be best served by moving him right away to maximise the transfer money. Wilson is 31 years old.
This transfer season, the striker was again linked to a move to AC Milan; however, Newcastle turned down any approaches. Wilson’s estimated transfer value (ETV) is €7.6 million, indicating that Newcastle would receive exceptional value from the transaction.
