Guardiola wants to be reunited with Joshua Kimmich

To become their version of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Manchester City hopes to capture Joshua Kimmich, a standout player for Bayern Munich, in the summer. Like his English equivalent, the adaptable German midfielder is just as skilled as a defensive midfielder as a right-back.

The Daily Star claims that although Pep Guardiola is a huge fan of the participant, he also knows that if City waits until July, and Kimmich reaches the last 12 months of his deal at the Allianz Arena, his £50 million purchase price is going to be cut in half.

Manchester United and Liverpool are both preparing to strike, although they won’t do it during the January transfer window. Kimmich is cognizant of the curiosity in him and is especially motivated by the prospect of playing for Guardiola once more at the Etihad.

When the Spaniard departed for Man City the next year, Guardiola recruited Kimmich from RB Leipzig in January 2015. The two of them won a Bundesliga and a DFB-Pokal cup combined.

Kimmich, who is only 28 years old, has won an astounding 19 club titles in his career, 12 compared to what Alexander-Arnold did throughout his seven-year stint with Liverpool.

Joshua Kimmich is content to stay put even though he is eager to see his previous boss again. Considering how little time he has played under Thomas Tuchel this year, his position is a little unexpected.

Out of a possible 17 Bundesliga games, Kimmich has only played 11 of them. In the 2023–2024 season, he was more of a rotational player.

However, the 28-year-old is still among the world’s finest defensive midfielders, and he would provide City with excellent rivalry for Rodri in the middle of the park while also providing more depth at right back, which is something they will require as Kyle Walker approaches the end of his playing days.
