Mumbai City FC boss Petr Kratky heaped praise upon new recruit Iker Guarrotxena.
Jamshedpur FC defeated Mumbai City FC 3-2 in Gameweek 13 of the Indian Super League (ISL 2023–24). Khalid Jamil’s Men of Steel had fallen behind 2-0 in the first half of the match, but they rallied again in the second half.
After the game concluded, Mumbai City FC Head Coach Petr Kratky appeared for the media interaction, sharing his insights on today’s game. Excerpts are below:
Thoughts on the mistakes
Jamshedpur FC rose from the ruins in the second half though the goals that led them to bag those crucial three points. The goals mostly came out of the mistakes of the Islanders as they seemed to have lost their rhythm.
In Petr Kratky’s words, “That is football. You make mistakes, you cop the goal. So again, we have to review why the mistakes happened and what was behind it, and come back to the training pitch and practice so that it doesn’t happen again.”
Thoughts on players’ psychology
The Islanders seemed to have shifted gears on a negative note during the second half. He asserted, ”It’s obvious some things change. Jamshedpur FC would start putting extra players on the top. We were aware of that, but we tried to handle it. And then again, it’s that one goal when we put them on the back.
“We just have to be strong enough to keep going. Not just 45 minutes, but the rest of the game. As I said to the boys after the game, everyone can beat us, but we also can beat everyone. So, we just need to be strong, regroup, and go again,” the Mumbai City FC manager added.
Thoughts on Iker Guarrotxena
Iker Guarrotxena, one of Mumbai City’s new additions to the roster, came on as a substitute for Vikram Pratap Singh in the 56th minute. He had a decent game after coming on and even got a chance to equalize. Petr Kratky shared a positive insight on his player’s performance tonight.
He said, “Yes, I’m very happy with what he has done for the team in the time he was on the pitch. We had only one training session together and you can see he’s a quality player. He’s a good character, he’s a fighter. That’s what I like.
“This is the addition to the team you want. He will get more game-time going forward, but I’m very happy with what I saw from him,” he concluded.
