It will be a busy season for several big-name players in MLS 2024

The new MLS season is just around the corner, which means teams will look to their forwards to help them compete for the title. 2023 was dominated by forwards who made a mark for themselves including Los Angeles FC’s Denis Bouanga who earned the Golden Boot award. 

Several top players have joined the league this season, helping clubs strengthen their squads. Inter Miami signed Luis Suarez this season to lead the team to glory. Orlando City’s signing of Luis Muriel from Atalanta will make a statement for the league this season. As the league begins shortly, fans can look forward to seeing what each team has to offer. 

Now, Let’s take a look at the top 10 forwards to watch out for in the MLS 2024 season

10. Lorenzo Insigne- Toronto FC

With the new season just around the corner, Lorenzo Insigne will be looking to make his mark after scoring 11 goals last season. The former Napoli player has adapted extremely well to his new surroundings. A characteristic of his game is the ability to beat defenders by cutting inside on his right foot and scoring. With his trickery and ability to create chances for his team, he is one of this season’s most potent weapons. 

9. Alan Pulido- Sporting Kansas City

It was a productive season for the Mexican international last season, as he scored 14 goals in 31 appearances and contributed four assists. Sporting Kansas City was able to reach a playoff spot because of his goals, which showed his ability to score crucial goals. 

8. Ryan Gauld- Vancouver Whitecaps

At 28 years old, the Scottish International is at his peak years with the versatile forward helping the side through his creativity and ability to score important goals. While helping the team finish sixth last season, he scored 12 goals and contributed 17 assists.

7. Giorgos Giakoumakis- Atlanta United

Having signed from Scottish giants Celtic, he has been a great addition to Atlanta United. His debut season saw Atlanta United finish sixth in the Eastern Conference table with 17 goals. In addition to finishing second in the golden race, he received the award for best newcomer of the year. 

6. Facundo Torres- Orlando City

The Uruguayan international had an outstanding season last year scoring 14 goals and providing three assists in all competitions. He is a versatile player who can play several positions in the attacking third. With his impressive form at 23 years old, he has the world at his feet. 

5. Cucho Hernandez- Columbus Crew

A former Watford player, he has been very impressive for Columbus Crew over the past two seasons. Last season, he scored 24 goals in all competitions for the team, finishing as the team’s top scorer. In addition to his ability to link up with teammates, he has also demonstrated an eye for scoring spectacular goals. 

4. Luis Muriel- Orlando City

A new addition to the MLS this season, Luis Muriel brings tons of goal-scoring experience to Orlando City who look strong on paper. He joined Orlando City from Atalanta where he established himself as one of the best forwards and scored 68 goals there to become a known figure in the team. 

3. Luis Suarez- Inter Miami

Luis Suarez, the new signing from Gremio, will be playing his first MLS game. With his vast experience in the top flight, he will bring a lot of experience to the game. He was in top form last season for Gremio scoring 26 goals and providing 12 assists for his teammates. With whom he has won many major honours, he will be reuniting with his old teammates. 

2. Denis Bouanga- LAFC

LAFC’s top scorer last season, Denis Bouanga, has scored 20 goals for the club. Known for his right foot, he is a lethal finisher who prefers to cut in from the left to score on his preferred right foot. This season, LAFC will look to him as one of the top players to look out for as he seeks to lead the club to the title. 

1. Lionel Messi- Inter Miami

Lionel Messi, arguably the greatest player of all time, will be hoping to lead Inter Miami to the MLS title this season. In his first year with the club, he won the League Cup and scored 11 goals as well as five assists, and he was outstanding for the team last season. With the addition of Luis Suarez, the team looks strong, which means he will have an excellent campaign this season.
