Cristiano Ronaldo will be back to face Al Ain on Monday
Cristiano Ronaldo made what was deemed to be an inappropriate gesture at the conclusion of a Saudi Pro League game over the weekend, and as a result, he was fined and suspended for one match.
The Al Nassr skipper was seen on camera cupping his ear in response to the home crowd’s cries of “Messi” during his team’s 3-2 victory over Al Shabab. Then he kept pushing his hand in the direction of his pelvis.Television cameras did not record the incident, but people instantly shared recordings of the Portugal international performing the signal on social media.
The Disciplinary and Ethics Committee of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation declared early on Thursday that Ronaldo had been handed a one-match suspension. Next up for Nassr is a home match against bottom-of-the-table Al Hazem on Thursday night. Nassr is currently second in the Saudi Pro League, seven points behind Al Hilal.
In addition, Ronaldo, 39, will have to pay 10,000 SAR to the federation and 20,000 SAR ($5,333) to Shabab to cover the costs of the club’s lawsuit. The committee declared that there was no room for appeal of the ruling.According to reports from Saudi Arabia, Ronaldo, the former forward for Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus, informed the disciplinary committee that the gesture was typical throughout Europe and that its main purpose was to celebrate a win.

Ronaldo has faced comparable criticism in Saudi Arabia previously. He was charged with making an offensive gesture at Hilal supporters in April of last year, following Nassr’s 2-0 loss to their city rivals in a championship match. Eventually, Al Ittihad of Jeddah came in ahead of Nassr. Then, in response to a Hilal scarf being thrown at him during another 2-0 loss to Hilal later this month in the Riyadh Season Cup final, Ronaldo stuffed the scarf under his shorts and threw it back at the crowd.
The Asian Champions League quarterfinal first leg in Al Ain on Monday is anticipated to have Ronaldo back in the Nassr starting lineup.
