Eric Ramsay, an assistant at Manchester United, has signed a deal to take over as manager of Minnesota United, a Major League Soccer team.
After Adrian Heath left Minnesota in October, the team was left without a permanent manager. Over the past several days, negotiations with Ramsay have progressed at a rapid speed. After Sean McCauley left, Cameron Knowles took over as temporary manager of Minnesota. Knowles will return to the helm this weekend when the Loons visit Austin FC to begin their MLS season.
Ramsay, 32, sealed the contract on Thursday, but it’s unclear when he’ll start working as his visa paperwork is still being finalised before he moves.
Ramsay is rumoured to stick with Erik ten Hag and Manchester United for the team’s next three matches, which include the much-awaited derby away to champions Manchester City on March 3.
