The full-back is likely heading out of the club as contractual negotiations reach an impasse.

FC Bayern Munich find itself in uncharted waters in the German Bundesliga as it finds itself trailing Bayer Leverkusen, threatening the end of its 11-year league-winning streak. To add to their trouble, negotiations to renew Alphonso Davies’ contract have reached an impasse, with both the player and the club failing to reach a middle ground.

Several reports coming out of Europe have suggested that Alphonso Davies has verbally agreed to play for Real Madrid. Now, the situation facing the Bundesliga giants is such that either it cashes on the player or loses him on a free transfer in 2025. Whichever might be the case, it is an eventuality that FCB must look for a replacement for the Canadian international.

Finding a replacement for Alphonso Davies is no easy task as the new player must be good enough to find their feet at a club like FC Bayern Munich where demands know no ceiling. Only a handful of players can be good replacements if Davies leaves Bayern Munich and they are:

Andrew Robertson (Liverpool)

Liverpool’s Andy Robertson has emerged as a top priority for FC Bayern Munich if they do not convince Alphonso Davies to a contract renewal, according to reports in Germany. With Jurgen Klopp set to leave the Reds at the end of the 2023-24 season, there are plenty of calls for a shuffle in the LFC squad.

Andy Robertson has won five trophies with Liverpool and brings Premier League experience to the table. He has the mentality to succeed at a highly demanding club like FC Bayern Munich and is a finished product rather than one for the future.

Miguel Gutierrez (Girona)

Miguel Gutierrez’s meteoric rise is symbolic of the magnificent season Girona is having in the Spanish La Liga. The 22-year-old left-back has huge potential and can be a part of FC Bayern Munich’s setup for years to come.

The Spaniard has notched up six assists and a goal in 30 appearances across all competitions. It will need little convincing for the Bundesliga outfit to bring Gutierrez to the club if other targets are out of their reach.

Federico Dimarco (Inter)

Federico Dimarco is hailed as one of the best left-backs in Europe at the moment by several experts. The Italian has scored three goals and made eight assists in 29 appearances across all competitions for Inter, becoming an integral part of the starting lineup.

FC Bayern Munich needs a player like Federico Dimarco who is hungry to win trophies and has an exuberant personality to add to his footballing skills. His current price tag is in the region of €50.00m and may rise further.

Alejandro Grimaldo (Bayer Leverkusen)

Alejandro Grimaldo is not only the talk of the Bundesliga but the world football thanks to his stellar performances for Bayer Leverkusen. The 28-year-old is in the form of his life, scoring 10 goals and making 11 assists in the first 32 appearances across all competitions.

While convincing Grimaldo to join Bayern Munich may be a difficult task given he has a contract until 2027, things may drastically go in the favour of the Bavarians if Xabi Alonso decides to swap clubs. The tactician would like to bring Grimaldo with him to FCB which may play a big role in convincing the player to make the move.

Theo Hernandez (AC Milan)

Theo Hernandez is a serial winner, with the right profile that matches the ambitions of FC Bayern Munich. The AC Milan defender has emerged as the front-runner to replace Alphonso Davies if the latter decides to join Real Madrid.

Theo Hernandez is the sort of leader in the dressing room that FC Bayern Munich is desperately looking for. He is captain material, one who will not let the standards go down by the slightest of margins. His experience of winning the UEFA Champions League, the Italian Serie A, and the UEFA Nations League will come in handy at FCB where winning trophies is a fundamental demand.
