Some of the future talents who played their first Premier League game

The Premier League has earned a well-deserved reputation as a treasure trove of young talent in the world of football. By its global popularity and financial resources, the league has become a magnet for emerging stars from around the globe. The Premier League offers a platform for young players to showcase their skills on a grand stage, making it an attractive destination for rising talents. EPL clubs are getting increasingly committed to nurturing and promoting homegrown prospects.

Recently teams with more and more young players are performing very well and with good scouting systems in the clubs we are seeing some of the best young talents coming out from the English top division. The level of football played in England’s top flight means that there is little room for errors from players in general. This makes it an incredible achievement for these young players to appear in the league.

Without further ado, here is a list of the five youngest Premier League debutants in 2023-34 season:

5. Rodrigo Ribeiro (Nottingham Forest) – 18 years, 9 months & 7 days

His intelligence and versatility allow him to play anywhere along the front line, as a striker, in a supporting role, and even on the wing, tactically astute and technically capable of playing in various roles and tactical systems. A player with good body mass ratio, physical strength, power, stamina and natural fitness who feels comfortable in contact situations.

He has killer instinct, great off-the-ball movement, and flair in the final third. He made his professional debut with Sporting CP in a 0–0 UEFA Champions League tie with Manchester City on 9 March 2022. He subsequently was loaned to Premier League side Nottingham Forest for the remainder of the season, with Forest holding an option to make the move permanent

4. Ben Parkinson (Newcastle United) – 18 years, 8 months & 1 day

Ben Parkinson plays for Newcastle United and hasn’t been involved in many of their Premier League games in 2023-2024, making one appearance overall and playing 24 minutes. His one appearance this season came as a substitute. Parkinson first made an appearance in a league game on November 11, playing 24 minutes for Newcastle United versus Bournemouth in a 2-0 defeat.

3. Deivid Washington (Chelsea) – 18 years, 4 months & 23 days

A player with a killer instinct, great off-the-ball movement, timing, intelligence, and flair in the final third, often moves deeper into midfield and draws defenders with him in order to create and exploit spaces for his teammates. He is extremely difficult to knock off the ball thanks to his ability to shield the ball and close control. He signed a seven-year contract with the Blues with the option of a further year. He made his Premier League debut on 28 October 2023, a game that Chelsea lost 2–0 to Brentford.

2. Jayden Danns (Liverpool) – 18 years, 1 month & 5 days

Danns has been with the Reds his entire youth career, having joined the club at the age of eight. Danns is the son of former Premier League midfielder and current Tranmere assistant manager Neil Danns. Danns is at his best as an out-and-out striker and has showcased an array of finishes, both spectacular and routine, with 21 goals while splitting his time between the U18s and U21s this season. On 21 February 2024, Danns made his Premier League debut as a substitute, for Luis Díaz, in the 89th minute in a 4–1 win over Luton Town.

1. Ryan One (Sheffield United) – 17 years, 4 months & 2 days

Oné began his career with Hamilton Academical, making his first-team debut in the 2022–23 season. In February 2023 he scored the winning goal in the semi-final of the SPFL Trust Trophy. One signed for Sheffield United on 2 September 2023. He was an unused substitute in United’s game against Manchester United, before making his debut on 28 October, in a 5–0 defeat away at Arsenal. He will be a great player for the future of the team for sure.
