There will be many big superstars out of contract in 2025

The 2025 window will be a huge one with a host of superstars at the end of their contract and be available on free transfer. Over the years, they have downed the colours of their clubs with great pride, but this might be their last year. It includes players such as Lionel Messi, who has been one of the best players to grace football.

Clubs fighting for the best players may create many dramas. With Trent Alexander-Arnold and Van Dijk out of contract in 2025, Liverpool will have to consider this. De Bruyne, one of the best players in the world, will also be available as a free agent in 2025, with multiple clubs willing to sign him for free.

Now, let’s take a look at the top 10 footballers available on a free transfer in 2025:

10. Paulo Dybala

The Argentine international has become an important player for AS Roma since signing for the club in 2022. He has scored some important goals for the club which caught the eye of many European top clubs. As there could be interest from many clubs to sign him, he may be linked to Chelsea this summer if he continues his fine for the clubs.

9. Trent Alexander-Arnold

Through his consistent performance for Liverpool, he has developed into one of the best right backs in the world. It will be interesting to see how Liverpool will handle these contract issues when Jurgen Klopp departs this summer, as he would be a huge loss for them if he became a free agent.

8. Alphonso Davies

The left-back is in high demand at the moment and has a year left on his contract, so many top clubs around the country are monitoring his situation. Real Madrid are also rumored to be considering signing him. One of his biggest strengths is his speed and attacking ability, which has made him one of the best left-backs in the world. Just 23 years old, he has the world at his feet.

7. Joshua Kimmich

The 28-year-old has been a regular in the Bayern Munich setup with him being one of the best players in the team. He is often underrated, but always gives his best. As a result of his aggressiveness and ability to dictate the pace of a game, it is likely that Real Madrid and Manchester City will pursue him for a long time or that he signs a better contract with Bayern.

 6. Heung-Min Son

With Tottenham maintaining a firm position in the league, the South Korean has been in fine form for the season. As a result of Harry Kane’s departure, he has been given the captain’s armband. He has scored 12 goals this season for Spurs. The question will be whether he renews his contract or takes on a new challenge.

 5. Virgil Van Dijk

Since his arrival at Liverpool, the skipper has been regarded as one of the world’s best centre backs. With his ability to handle the team under pressure and score some important goals for the team, he has developed himself into a technical gifted defender. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool renews his contract since he has one year left on it

4. Mohamed Salah

Salah has been in excellent form for Liverpool this season, notching 26 goals in 27 appearances to make him the Reds’ all-time top scorer and one of the greatest players in Liverpool’s history. After failing to sign him in 2023, it will be fascinating to see if Al Ittihad will move for him again in 2025 since his contract runs out in 2025.

3. Kevin De Bruyne

Having returned from an injury, the Belgian international is back to his best. Often regarded as one of the best players in the world, De Bruyne has been a key part of Manchester City’s success this season. He has been linked to a number of top European clubs who weren’t able to sign him. However, with his contract expiring in 2025, Manchester City will have to decide whether to retain or sell him.

2. Neymar

Neymar‘s season hasn’t gone according to plan with the Brazilian suffering an ACL injury. As a result of his ACL surgery, he will no longer be a member of Al Hilal this season. This summer will be crucial for both sides if they want to continue working together if they decide to let him go. With just one year remaining on his contract, it will be interesting to see if Al Hilal signs him to a new contract or to let him go.

1. Lionel Messi

Among the greatest football players ever, Lionel Messi will be out of contract in 2025. It remains to be seen if he will stay with Inter Miami, sign for a European team or rejoin his beloved Newell’s Old Boys. Having won his eighth Ballon d’Or this season, he will be highly sought after in 2025.
