Delhi Dynamos Football Club

Delhi Dynamos, the only North Indian team of the Indian Super League has been one of the under whelming sides of the competition. Since the inception of the cash rich league, Dynamos never lacked the potential to do great things but have always fallen short of making it to the finals. Finishing in the Top 4 for two seasons, it is expected of them to go further than before.

The club has been in a constant managerial and directorial overhaul, from shifting of the ownership to featuring different managers in every single season. Previously spearheaded by the likes of Del Piero, Roberto Carlos and Zambrotta, the team has introduced their new head coach, Miguel Angel Portugal, at a gala ceremony in the National Capital a few weeks ago.

Currently backed with Aspire Academy that will see the world-renowned Doha-based Academy share its football know-how and management expertise (including coaching, training, scouting and sports science) with the Delhi-based club in their pursuit of success on the pitch.

PLAYERS' ROSTER

Delhi Dynamos didn’t retain any player from last season. After confirming Portuguese Miguel Angel as their new head coach, Delhi went all out to buy the best players they could for the forthcoming season.

In the very first round, Dynamos secured one of the most promising goalkeepers Albino Gomes followed by the country’s best right back at the moment Pritam Kotal in the second round. In the next three rounds, the Delhi outfit bagged Chhangte, Sena Ralte and Seityasen Singh which gave an indication that the Lions were executing their plans to make a formidable side.

In the next round, they picked 19-year-old Vinit Rai. Their best buys were Romeo Fernandes, Rowilson Rodrigues, etc. The Lions are yet to pick rest of their 10 players. They've also signed Atletico Paranaese defensive midfielder Paulinho Diaz who'll add a lot of bite in the centre of the pitch.

TACTICAL SYSTEM (PROBABLE)

Since their first season, DDFC have been pretty sloppy at the back, leaking too many goals at crucial timings. This was evident in their last season as well, as the Lions conceded a lot of late goals and only securing the top 4 slot with Marcelinho's heroics. The newly-appointed man must have kept this mind and it is well perceivable that he has started making the right amends. The acquisition of Kotal and Sena Ralte is one such mark of the focus on defence.

In Spain, Angel Portugal is considered a connoisseur of football. He is known for his insightful knowledge of the game and has even authored a book on football training named Futbol - Medios de Entrenamiento Con Balon. If sources are to be believed, He is touted to have a possession style upfront. Well, the style is pretty difficult to implement but with right players who are intelligent on the ball, it might become a cake walk.

Starting from the back, the current I League champion with Aizawl, Albino Gomes will look for keeping the posts, Followed by an experienced backline mixed with promising talent.

The acquired centre-back pairing of Rowilson and Pratik ensures the first-hand experience of the league and the solidity for the team. Assisted by furious full backs, Ralte and Kotal would have much to do. Their wings will be lead by Chhangte and Seityasen Singh respectively, and neither of them stop themselves from going ahead. Understandably, the full Backs would be the vital pieces of the structure.

Guarding the back four as a shield would be new foreign signing Paulinho Diaz, the lone expert defensive midfielder of the squad so far. Accompanying him as a box-to-box midfielder would be Vinit Rai, often switching to go up front or staying back, as per the demands.

Number 10 role is always an integral part of any system, it has to be given to someone with supremacy with pace and vision. It wouldn't be a surprise if Romeo Fernandez is played within that area. The 5'6" Goa player is capable of drifting to either wing and supply with in the box. Delhi fans should expect a No. 10 signing.

As stated before, The wings would be lead by Chhangte and Singh. The wingers are raw and have plenty of pace in store. They are furious and have a sight of releasing the third man tactic.

The No. 9 slot is to be filled by an expert striker, who'll look to lead the line for the side. Badara Badji and Richard Gadze, Khel Now understand, are in the running to be picked up by the capital side again.
