ISL 2025-26 Champions East Bengal FC are set to strengthen their squad with the signing of versatile right-sided player Boris Singh Thangjam, who has agreed to a multi-year contract with the Red and Gold Brigade.
The 25-year-old is expected to earn around ₹60 lakh per season plus performance-related bonuses, with the deal currently subject to the completion of his medical and final paperwork.
Over the last few seasons, Boris has established himself as one of the Indian Super League‘s most reliable right wing-backs. Known for his pace, attacking intent and work rate, he is equally comfortable playing higher up the pitch as a right winger, giving his team valuable tactical flexibility.
Boris Singh’s journey from AIFF Elite Academy to ISL star

The Manipur-born footballer began his journey at the AIFF Elite Academy and was part of the talented group developed for the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup, which India hosted. Following the tournament, he joined Indian Arrows before securing a move to ATK. Although regular opportunities were limited there, he remained with the club after its merger with Mohun Bagan.
His career took a major turn in 2021 after joining Jamshedpur FC. Boris became a regular starter and played a key role over two seasons, making 41 Indian Super League appearances and scoring five goals while helping the club lift the ISL Shield.
Strong performances at FC Goa

In 2023, he signed for FC Goa and continued his impressive rise. During the 2025-26 campaign, he featured in 24 matches across all competitions, accumulating 1,854 minutes on the pitch. Alongside his 13 ISL appearances, he played all six AFC Champions League Two group-stage fixtures and added another trophy to his collection by winning a second consecutive Super Cup with the Gaurs.
Boris has also progressed steadily on the international stage. After representing India at the U-17 and U-20 levels, he earned his senior national team debut on 19 March 2025 in a friendly against the Maldives.

The 26-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough campaign under Panagiotis Dilmperis, featuring regularly and impressing with his composure, tactical awareness and versatility. Lhungdim was, in fact, heavily linked with rumoured moves to the Kolkata clubs on social media.
Punjab FC remain determined to retain one of their standout performers as they continue building around a young core for the 2026-27 season, making Lhungdim to stay put.
