East Bengal have had the worst disciplinary record in the 2024-25 ISL season so far

The Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 season has been packed with intense action, showcasing thrilling matches, incredible goals, and moments of sheer brilliance. However, we have also witnessed our fair share of heated confrontations and disciplinary issues and even red cards.

In this article, we delve into the clubs that have accumulated the most red cards so far this season.

East Bengal – 7 Red Cards

East Bengal have not had the best of seasons after they were quite active in the summer transfer window. A bad disciplinary record has not helped their cause as Souvik Chakrabarti, Jeakson Singh, Provat Lakra, Mahesh Singh Naorem, and Nandhakumar Sekar have all been sent off for the Red and Gold Brigade. To add to this, Lalchungnunga has been given a red card twice in the 2024-25 ISL season.

Apart from seven red cards, East Bengal have also received 51 yellow cards in 15 ISL games.

Kerala Blasters-4 Red Cards

The Kerala Blasters have seen four red card dismissals in the ISL so far. Against Punjab FC both Milos Drincic and Aibhanbha Dohling were sent off in a 1-0 win. Dohling was once sent off, having headbutted NorthEast United’s Aladdine Ajaraie in their recent encounter.

Apart from the four red cards, KBFC’s players have also received a total of 38 yellow cards in 17 ISL games.

Chennaiyin FC – 3 Red Cards

Owen Coyle’s side too have had a forgetful ISL campaign so far. Chennaiyin FC have seen three red cards so far this season as PC Laldinpuia, Connor Shields, and Laldinliana Renthlei have been sent off for the club.

Two of the three red cards for the Marina Machans were on disciplinary grounds rather than fouls and could have been avoided. Chennaiyin have also been handed 29 yellow cards so far in 16 ISL games.

NorthEast United – 3 Red Cards

NorthEast United have had a positive 2024-25 ISL season so far under Juan Benali. The Highlanders have had Asheer Akhtar, Robin Yadav, and Soraisham Singh sent off this season. Interestingly, NEUFC have not lost either of the three games where they got a red card.

In 16 ISL games, NorthEast United have also received 31 yellow cards

Odisha FC – 3 Red Cards

Sergio Lobera’s side had a bad start to their ISL campaign but slowly recovered their form. However, Odisha FC are now four games without a win and desperate for a chance of fortunes as they sit outside the playoff spots.

In terms of red cards, OFC have had Ahmed Jahouh sent off twice while Carlos Delgado was given his marching orders in the recent loss to Kerala Blasters. Odisha FC have also received 30 yellow cards in 16 ISL games.

Punjab FC – 3 Red Cards

The Shers started their 2024-25 ISL campaign with a lot of positivity, winning their first three games. However they have since lost form a bit with injuries to some of their foreign players and this has seen them slip down the league table.

Punjab FC are currently on a six game winless run and this has also hampered their defensive record as they have received three red cards in this time. Khaiminthang Lhungdim has been sent off twice while Ezequiel Vidal was also given a red card once. Punjab FC have also been given 38 yellow cards so far this season.

Hyderabad FC – 3 Red Cards

The Nizams are developing a young team that will only get better in the coming years. While their disciplinary record has not been very bad, they have received three red cards this season.

Hyderabad FC has seen Alex Saji, Parag Shrivas, Leander D’Cunha sent off in the 2024-25 ISL season so far. The HFC squad has also received 27 yellow cards in this season.
