East Bengal have become the latest entrant in the list.

Over the years, the Indian Super League (ISL) has witnessed quite a few champion teams that have gone on unmatched winning streaks. However, on the other end of the table, a few clubs have records that their fans would want to forget.

Here are the top six clubs with the most consecutive losses in an ISL season.

NorthEast United – ISL 2022-23 (10 Losses)

NorthEast United currently hold the record for the most consecutive losses in an ISL season. The Highlanders’ losing streak started with a 1-0 loss to Bengaluru FC in matchweek 1.

This losing streak went on for almost three months before they beat ATK Mohun Bagan 1-0 in Guwahati. NorthEast United ended the season with just five points from 20 games with a record 17 losses in total.

Hyderabad FC – ISL 2023-24 (8 Losses)

Owing to financial trouble, an inexperienced Hyderabad FC had a season to forget in 2023-24 as they finished at the foot of the table with 8 points in 22 games.

The Nizams succumbed to a 3-0 loss to Odisha FC on 17th December 2023 and went on a losing streak that would go until March 4th, 2024, when they drew 2-2 with NorthEast United. The Yellow and Black suffered eight consecutive losses and an overall 16 losses in that season.

Jamshedpur’s losing streak began after a 3-0 loss to FC Goa on 3rd November 2022. Interestingly, they eventually picked up a point against Goa in a 2-2 draw on 22nd December 2022 to end their nightmare.

After a busy summer transfer window, the Red & Gold Brigade had a lot of expectations for the season. However, everything fell flat for East Bengal after their 1-0 loss to Bengaluru FC in matchweek 1.

The Kolkata giants failed to recover as manager Carles Cuadrat stepped down and was replaced by Oscar Bruzon. Their 2-1 loss to Odisha FC under their new manager on 23rd October 2024 made it six consecutive losses for East Bengal, making them the latest entrants on this list.

Delhi Dynamos – ISL 2017-18 (6 Losses)

Delhi Dynamos went on their record losing streak after their 4-1 loss to Bengaluru FC on 26th November 2017. Following this loss, the Delhi-based club suffered defeats in five more games before eventually ending their turmoil run with a 2-2 draw against Chennaiyin FC on 7th January 2018. They finished the season with nine losses in 18 games.

NorthEast United – 6 Losses (ISL 2017-18)

The Highlanders make their second appearance in this list. Consecutive losses to Pune City, Jamshedpur FC, Delhi Dynamos, Kerala Blasters, Mumbai City, and ATK crippled NorthEast United towards the end of their season.

Overall, the club lost 13 of their 18 matches and finished at the bottom of the 2017-18 ISL table with 11 points in 18 games.
