East Bengal FC vs Kerala Blasters FC: All- time head-to-head record

East Bengal FC have beaten Kerala Blasters FC only twice in the ISL.

All roads will lead to the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (VYBK), Kolkata, as East Bengal FC  hosts their fifth Indian Super League (ISL) home game. East Bengal FC  will welcome Kerala Blasters FC in their fifth home game of the Indian Super League (ISL ) 2025-26 season on Saturday at 5 PM (IST).

The Torchbearers arrive in this match on the back of a goalless draw against FC Goa, and Oscar Bruzon will want to add three points to their tally. The Red and Gold Brigade are currently placed in fifth position in the points table with seven points from 4 matches so far.

Meanwhile, Kerala Blasters FC have not had an ideal start despite coming up with promising performances. The Blasters have failed to accumulate any points this season so far from the four matches and are still in the hunt for their first three points. They have lost all four matches so far and are currently placed at the bottom of the points table with a negative (-5) goal difference.

The two clubs first met in the 2020-21 Indian Super League season after East Bengal’s inception into the marquee league, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Nishu Kumar scored an own goal in favour of East Bengal, but at the stoppage time, the equaliser was scored by Jeakson Singh to rescue a point for the Blasters.

However, since then, the fixture between East Bengal FC and Kerala Blasters FC has always been one of the most entertaining games throughout the ISL calendar. Kerala is narrowly ahead on head-head record against East Bengal.

Since coming into the ISL in 2020, the Red and Gold brigade have played eight games against Kerala Blasters. The 2020-21 season saw the clubs play out 1-1 draws in the two league fixtures.

Whereas, in the 2021-22 season, Kerala tasted their first victory against the Kolkata side with a scoreline of 1-0 and the other match again ended in a 1-1 draw each behind closed doors.

However, post-COVID, the Moshal boys have managed to win two matches against the Kerala side. The Blasters have beaten the Red and Gold Brigade, 2-1, when they met last time in Kerala in the 2024–25 Indian Super League season. East Bengal were ahead with PV Vishnu’s goal in the first half of the match, but two late goals from Noah Sadaoui and Kwame Peprah helped the Blasters to grab all three points.

But in the home fixture in the 2024–25 Indian Super League season at the VYBK Stadium, Kolkata, under the guidance of Oscar Bruzon, East Bengal produced a strong comeback performance and won the match 2-1. PV Vishnu and Hijazi Maher scored the goals for the Torchbearers, and the solitary goal in favour of Kerala was scored by Danish Farooq. This win ended East Bengal’s four-game winless streak in that season.

Earlier this season, East Bengal FC performed brilliantly and reached the finals of the IFA Shield 2025 and AIFF Super Cup 2025-26. Unfortunately, they were beaten on both occasions in penalty shootouts by Mohun Bagan and  FC Goa. The Moshal boys were also knocked out in the semi-final of the prestigious Durand Cup 2025 campaign after playing some impressive brand of football, by the newly promoted side in the Indian Football League (IFL) 2025-26, Diamond Harbour FC.

Oscar Bruzon’s side started pretty well in this year’s ISL with two back-to-back wins on their home turf against NorthEast United FC and SC Delhi, despite missing a few of their key players like Rakip, Mahesh, Saul Crespo and Kevin Sibille. But they were defeated by Jamshedpur FC (2-1) and had to settle for a goalless draw against the Gaurs in their last two home games at the VYBK Stadium, Kolkata. After the last two results, somehow the Red and Gold Brigade have lost their rhythm in this year’s truncated league, which is getting an intense and highly competitive game by game.

Meanwhile, David Catala’s boys would like to spoil the party for East Bengal on 14th March and would like to snatch their first win of the season in this away fixture in Kolkata.

Now that East Bengal have built a competitive squad this year with the likes of Miguel, Ezzejjari, Edmund and others, is this finally East Bengal’s chance to get back their winning luck against the Blasters in the ISL?

In the ISL, East Bengal FC produced one of their impressive and dominating performances against the Blasters in the 2022-23 season at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi, on 3rd April 2023 under the guidance of Carles Cuadrat. It was the biggest win for East Bengal against the Kerala Blasters side and the most high-scoring match in the history of this rivalry in the ISL.

The Red and Gold Brigade won the match 4-2 securing their largest win against the Blasters and this was also the first time that the Kolkata side scored four goals in an away fixture since their inception into the league.
