The Islanders won the ISL 2023/24 trophy but narrowly lost the League Winners’ Shield showdown.

Mumbai City FC have maintained their trophy-winning spree by clinching the ISL 2023-24 after beating Mohun Bagan Super Giants. In doing so they exacted revenge for the loss on final matchday to the Mariners that cost them the League Winner’s Shield.

Although both trophies exchanged costs, this will be Petr Kratky’s first full season in charge. Subsequently, the Czech head coach has overseen a massive overhaul to tweak the squad to his liking. This massive exodus of players to and from the club included several prominent players.

Influential players like Apuia, and Greg Stewart joined Mohun Bagan Super Giants while Jorge Pereyra Diaz, Alberto Noguera, and Rahul Bheke chose Bengaluru FC.

The Islanders secured a few renowned names as well, including Brandon Fernandes, TP Rehenesh, and Jeremy Manzorro. To find out who else joined lets look at all the transfers completed by Mumbai City FC so far in the 2024-25 summer window

Incomings

Jon Toral

Arsenal academy graduate Jon Toral is a charismatic addition to Mumbai City’s creative arsenal. The Spanish attacking midfielder has played for the Gunners alongside Hull City, Birmingham City, Glasgow Rangers, and Granada CF and has a decent output of goals and assists for those sides

Nikolaos Karelis

Yet another European import with experience at Brentford, Panathinaikos and KRC Genk, Karelis will be the Islanders’ lead striker for the season. The agile and clinical centre-forward is a faster version of former Mumbai City attacker Igor Angulo.

Jeremy Manzorro

A natural trequartista, Jeremy Manzorro scored 5 goals and assisted once with Jamshedpur FC last season. The French midfielder has decided to make the switch to the Islanders and aid their attacking input in this campaign.

Brandon Fernandes

The FC Goa captain was also recruited by the Islanders ahead of this season. A seasoned ISL veteran, Brandon will not only add a unique flair to the field, but mentor the younger contingent continuously.

Hitesh Sharma

Odisha FC midfielder Hitesh Sharma was loaned to the Islanders and will expect to break into the starting lineup. Given how he only appeared 10 times for the Juggernauts last season, and scored only once, he has to step up his game to get selected amidst the Islanders’ all-star array.

Jayesh Rane

Rane lodged five assists in 27 appearances for the Islanders during his loan stint last season and impressed enough to earn a permanent contract.

TP Rehenesh

With Mohammed Nawaz’s contract running out at the club, Mumbai City needed a solid backup option. Former League Winner’s Shield winner T.P Rehenesh has been signed in his stead to aid the reliable Phurba Lachenpa in the goalkeeping department.

Noufal PN

The 23-year-old left midfielder had a bright spell with Gokulam Kerala with five goals and eight assists in 30 appearances. Mumbai City will immensely profit from his dual offensive threat if he’s utilised properly.

Daniel Lalhlimpuia

Daniel was bought from Punjab FC to play understudy and provide a rotation option for the strikers.

Sahil Panwar

Sahil Panwar will be assisting the Islanders to grind out more physical games with his rugged defending and hard tackling. The former Juggernauts’ left-back is a more defensive-minded alternative for the high-flying Akash Mishra.

Hardik Bhatt

Amey Ranawade’s departure for a second season running left the gaping hole at right-back untreated and Hardik Bhatt would be filling in for the same.

Outgoings

Greg Stewart

Two-time League Winner’s Shield winner, Greg Stewart, moved to Mohun Bagan Super Giants in a shock move after terminating his contract with the Islanders. The ISL Hero of the League 2021-22 winner had moved to Kilmarnock FC after his time at Mumbai City FC but will play for the Mariners next season.

Iker Guarrotxena

Guarrotxena will be returning to the Gaurs after a successful five-goal contribution for the Islanders in six appearances last season.

Jorge Pereyra Diaz

Another surprising exit, hybrid forward Pereyra Diaz chose to join Mumbai City compatriots Rahul Bheke and Alberto Noguera at Bengaluru FC for the upcoming season. The Argentine attacker managed 15 goals and one assist in only 29 appearances and will want to replicate his form for the Blues.

Alberto Noguera

After helping Mumbai City to an ISL trophy, Noguera will ply his trade for Bengaluru FC hoping his vision will help them return to their former days of glory.

Jakub Vojtus

Jakub Vojtus featured only six times for the Islanders scoring once and assisting once as he sputtered his way out of the club.

Rahul Bheke

The veteran right-back returned to his former club whom he helped win the ISL 2018-19 trophy.

Apuia

Mohun Bagan Super Giants snapped up another promising midfielder from the Islanders who at only 23 years of age is already close to a century of appearances in the league.

Rowlin Borges

The experienced defensive midfielder moved to FC Goa permanently after a loan move last season.

Vinit Rai

After failing to impress on loan from Odisha FC, Vinit Rai departed the club for Punjab FC. The midfielder has already scored once for the Shers in the Durand Cup 2024 and seems set for a good season.

Gurkirat Singh

21-year-old Gurkirat chose to sign for Chennaiyin FC in hopes of getting more game time in the ISL and polishing his potential.

Mohammad Nawaz

The once-phenomenal goalkeeper is one of the seven players whose contracts ran out at the club this season. Nawaz’s fate hasn’t been the same ever since Phurba pipped him to the number one spot and will have to look for greener pastures elsewhere.

Naocha Singh

Kerala Blasters recruited the left-back to fill in the boots of the versatile Nishu Kumar and Naocha will hope to garner more experience at his new club.

Naorem Tondomba Singh

An excess of midfield options left the club with no other option but to let defensive medio Naorem Singh’s contract run out.
