Mohun Bagan registered a brilliant comeback win on aggregate in front of their home crowd.

Mohun Bagan turned up the ante on a hot evening in the City of Joy as they pulled off a hard-fought win over Odisha FC and booked a place in the 2023-24 Indian Super League (ISL) final. The Mariners put up their best football and produced a result to remember.

Jason Cummings opened the scoring on the night and brought the aggregate back to 2-2, before Sahal Abdul Samad scored the winning goal in the dying moments of the game to put his side in the all important final.

Mohun Bagan were down, but were not out and had the courage and determination to fight back and script a comeback for ages. Despite a defeat in the away leg, the Mariners made sure they brought out their A-game to the table. With this win, Mohun Bagan have now made it to their second final in a row and can also become the second side to complete the league double come Saturday.

What a performance it has been from Manvir Singh! He has been phenomenal all throughout the season for the Green & Maroon Brigade, but tonight’s performance was class apart. He worked his socks off and was adjudged as the player of the match for his heroics on the pitch. Manvir played a crucial role in creating the winning goal for his side and also put in crucial last ditch touches to neutralize the danger from Odisha FC.

1. Antonio Lopez Habas becomes the first manager to reach four ISL finals

Antonio Lopez Habas has now become the first manager to reach four finals in the history of the ISL. The Spaniard is the most successful manager in the history of the league having won two ISL trophies ever since his arrival in India. He took over the hotseat midway through this season and completely changed Mohun Bagan’s fortunes. Habas is the master when it comes to knockouts football and he is just one step away from his third ISL title.
