A list of the best Indian players of the week featuring clubs like Jamshedpur FC and FC Goa.

The Indian Super League (ISL) delivered amazing football action during match week 10 full of close games and standout players being the difference. Some of the brightest young names in Indian football stepped up for their respective clubs and grabbed the headlines this week.

Crucial goals and saves were on display as ISL teams witnessed some stellar performances by Indian players, who showcased their quality and impact in the first division of Indian football.

Here’s a look at the top five Indian performers of the week:

5. Prabhusukhan Singh Gill (East Bengal FC)

A standout performer for East Bengal FC in Matchweek 10, Gill was rock solid in the net for the Torchbearers. The 23-year-old shot-stopper despite having a nervy start helped his defenders organize at the back. Growing into the game, Gill marshaled his defenders to endure wave after wave of NorthEast United FC attacks. Despite going down to 10 men in the 87th minute, Gill and his team persevered for a deserved win.

Having made six appearances this season, Gill has kept two clean sheets and has grown into his role with the team. His growing consistency this season would have made him coach Oscar Bruzon’s first choice in goal for the Torchbearers.

4. Vibin Mohanan (Kerala Blasters FC)

The young midfield maestro for Kerala Blasters FC showcased a lot of promise and was arguably the club’s best player against FC Goa. While dictating the tempo and showcasing incredible composure on the ball, Vibin kept Kerala in the game. He showcased his ability to break up opposition plays and worked hard defensively to stop the Gaurs’ attacks. 

His accurate passing and vision made him a standout player, and his seamless play to transition between defense and attack showed his class. The 21-year-old Kerala Blasters youth product proved why he deserves to be at the heartbeat of the Blasters’ midfield.

3. Jerry Mawihmingthanga (Odisha FC)

The 27-year-old winger was in scintillating form for Odisha FC, playing a key role in their commanding win over Bengaluru FC. Using his blistering pace and intelligent movement on the flanks, Jerry constantly troubled the Bengaluru defenders. He gave Odisha the best start possible in the 10th minute when he pounced on a loose ball to make it 1-0 for the Juggernauts. 

Showcasing his knack for being in the right place at the right time, he marked his 100th game in the ISL with a special performance. While he is known for his ability to create chances, the game against the Blues showcased he can finish them as well for his club.  

2. Boris Singh Thangjam (FC Goa)

Boris was a livewire for FC Goa, contributing with a significant goal in their hard-fought match against the Kerala Blasters FC. He showed relentless energy and a tremendous work rate while contributing defensively to his team. Being a constant attacking threat, the Gaurs winger was a menace for the Tuskers’ defense all game. 

His dribbling skills and precise crosses created numerous opportunities for his teammates. The 24-year-old has made nine appearances, contributing a goal and an assist in that time. He will be a vital player for FC Goa as they march back towards their goal of capturing the ISL shield.

1. Albino Gomes (Jamshedpur FC)

The Jamshedpur FC shot-stopper displayed his shot-stopping prowess for Jamshedpur FC, earning his team all three points against Mohammedan SC. The experienced goalkeeper made a series of stunning saves, including a decisive penalty save in stoppage time. The 30-year-old put his body on the line and made some brave decisions while being the leader at the back. 

His composure under pressure was key in keeping Jamshedpur in the contest. While he deserved to keep a clean sheet, he played a crucial role against a game Mohammedan SC side. He has been an indispensable part of Coach Khalid’s plans and promises to be the first name on the team sheet.
