The 2024-25 Indian Super League (ISL) season has been a thrilling display of talent, and match week 15 further attested to those claims. With top teams vying to lay claim to the coveted ISL shield as league winners, several Indian players helped their clubs while stepping up with standout performances.
The Indian players in this list showcased their growing influence in the league and showed why they are one of the first names on the team sheet.
Here’s a closer look at the top five Indian players who lit up Matchweek 15 with their exceptional displays.
5. Redeem Tlang (NorthEast United FC)
The NorthEast United full-back once again demonstrated why he is an important player to watch out for NorthEast United FC. He delivered a promising defensive performance in Matchweek 15 of ISL, which helped his team keep back-to-back clean sheets. His work defensively to restrict Mohammedan SC attackers and his tackling were crucial in securing a very important point.
Tlang’s tireless work rate and ability to smell danger before his teammates highlight his importance to head coach Juan Pedro Benali’s setup. While only making substitute appearances this season, the last two games show how important the 29-year-old will be for the Highlanders.
4. Mohammed Irshad (Mohammedan SC)
The 30-year-old delivered a memorable performance for Mohammedan SC in Matchweek 15 of ISL,, commanding the midfield with authority. His defensive contributions, coupled with his ability to dictate situations from deep positions, were key to his team’s success. Irshad’s work rate and tactical awareness allowed him to neutralize the opposition’s creative threats while initiating quick counters.
In a season where things haven’t gone to plan for the Black Panthers, coach Andrey Chernyshov would have been encouraged by Irshad’s performance.
3. Muhammad Uvais (Jamshedpur FC)
The Jamshedpur FC midfielder had a stellar outing in Matchweek 15 of ISL, standing out as the matchwinner with a crucial goal against Bengaluru FC. Tasked with containing a formidable opposition attack, Uvais showed remarkable composure and reading of the game. However, his biggest contribution came in the 90th minute, when his timely anticipation allowed him to chip the ball over the goalkeeper’s head.
The 26-year-old’s ability to combine defensive discipline with quick transitions make him an integral part of his team’s backline. The win courtesy of Uvais helps Jamshedpur climb up into the top 4 spots in the ISL league standings.
2. Vishal Kaith (Mohun Bagan Super Giant)
Being arguably one of the best goalkeepers in the league this season, Vishal Kaith continues to prove why he’s one of the best players. In Matchweek 15 of ISL, Kaith was an impenetrable wall for the Mohun Bagan Super Giant, keeping his 7th clean sheet during their impressive 3-0 win over Hyderabad FC.
His 7 saves kept his team in the game and preserved a crucial clean sheet which will help their goal difference come the end of the season. The 28-year-old displayed leadership at the back and his quick reflexes under pressure underline his value to Mohun Bagan’s title aspirations this season. Being an indispensable part of coach Jose Molina’s plans, Kaith continues to show his class.
1. Brison Fernandes (FC Goa)
The 23-year-old midfielder has been a revelation for FC Goa this season under head coach Manolo Marquez. He put on a show in Matchweek 15 against Odisha FC and gave his team the important early lead in the 8th minute. Operating with finesse as a left midfielder, Brison controlled the tempo of the game and added a second goal to his tally in the 53rd minute.
His ability to switch play and exploit gaps in the opposition’s defense was instrumental in maintaining Goa’s attacking momentum. With performances like this, Brison continues to make a strong case for a national team call-up in the very near future.
