Mohun Bagan players headline ISL Team of the Week for GW 22

The last round of fixtures from the ISL league stage produced several impressive performances.
Over the past week, the ISL‘s 2023-24 season saw its league stage end with high-octane footballing action, joyous moments and feelings of disappointment for some clubs. Mohun Bagan payers turned up with the goods in the title-deciding clash against Mumbai City FC to propel their side to a first-ever League Winner’s Shield.
Players from clubs like FC Goa, Kerala Blasters FC and NorthEast United also delivered notable performances, helping their respective teams to victories to finish the league stage on a high. Plenty of individuals, domestic and foreign, caught the eye and deservedly found their place in Khel Now’s Team of the Week for GW 22.
Here is a look at the final Team of the Week for the 2023-24 ISL’s league stage as the playoff nears:
Goalkeeper: Vishal Kaith (Mohun Bagan)
Vishal Kaith kept things tight at the back in both of Mohun Bagan’s crucial games in the past week. He kept a clean-sheet against Bengaluru FC in a 4-0 win and made four saves to deny Mumbai City FC the Shield in the final game of the league stage.
Centre-back: Narayan Das (FC Goa)
Narayan Das rolled back the years with a sensational performance for FC Goa. He finished the 4-1 win over Chennaiyin FC with a 91% pass completion rate and three important clearances.
Centre-back: Hector Yuste (Mohun Bagan)
Hector Yuste was a silent contributor to Mohun Bagan’s success while the attackers hogged the limelight. He scored and helped keep a clean-sheet in a 4-0 win over the Blues. Later, he led the defence expertly, and made six clearances to keep a spirited MCFC side reduced to only one goal.
Centre-back: Gaurav Bora (NorthEast United)
Gaurav Bora was a brilliant performer for NorthEast United in their 3-0 win over Odisha FC. The centre-back dominated the attacking force of the Juggernauts by making four clearances, two interceptions and three blocks.
Defensive Midfielder: Anirudh Thapa (Mohun Bagan)
Anirudh Thapa had a positive outing against Bengaluru FC. The midfielder scored with an intricate finish to give the Mariners a three-goal lead and put the result beyond any doubt.
Right Midfielder: Saurav Mandal (Kerala Blasters FC)
Saurav Mandal was one of the best performers in the past week for Kerala Blasters FC. The winger played a key role in helping the Yellow Army to a 3-1 win over Hyderabad FC, making two assists during the game.
Left Midfielder: Liston Colaco (Mohun Bagan)
Liston Colaco showed his quality by scoring an absolute belter of a goal from long range in a nail-biting contest against Mumbai City FC, sending the crowd in the Salt Lake Stadium into a frenzy. His goal gave the Mariners a crucial lead and the momentum in the title-deciding fixture.
Attacking Midfielder: Madih Talal (Punjab FC)
Madih Talal delivered a near-perfect performance for Punjab FC in their convincing 4-1 win over East Bengal FC in the past week. He scored one and provided two assists against his future employers.
Second Striker: Dimitri Petratos (Mohun Bagan)
Dimitri Petratos was outstanding for the Mariners, particularly in the ultimate clash against Mumbai City FC at the Salt Lake Stadium. He provided assists for both the goals on the evening.
Second Striker: Mohammed Aimen (Kerala Blasters FC)
Mohammed Aimen got the nod further up the field from Ivan Vukomanovic and made the most of the opportunity. He scored in the Blasters’ 3-1 win over Hyderabad FC, showing brilliant execution in heading the ball into the net.
Striker: Carlos Martinez (FC Goa)
Carlos Martinez took his goal tally for the 2023-24 ISL season to 10 goals after an excellent brace for FC Goa in their 4-1 win over Chennaiyin FC.
