Indian player ratings: Abinash Ruidas transformation continues as Debjit saves the day for ATK
ATK win at the Mumbai Football Arena to take a head to head advantage over Mumbai City FC after 8 games.
In the first home defeat of the season, Mumbai City FC gave a good account of themselves, losing narrowly to the defending champions of Hero ISL. Robin Singh’s second-half goal ensured safe passage for the Kolkata based club against a gritty Mumbai, with home players working very hard but were undone by one moment of weakness.
Mumbai City FC
Amrinder Singh- 7.0
Amrinder was the unbreakable wall in the first half for Mumbai City FC but in the second half, the custodian had a small lapse in concentration and that saw him conceding a silly goal. In spite of the goal, his 7 saves speak volumes of his worth.
Save from Amrinder Singh
Mehrajuddin Wadoo- 5.0
Wadoo played on the right of the Mumbai defence and was outmatched in pace against the raw Zequinha. He made it up by being astute in his marking and clearing the ball with headers when necessary. He was substituted in the 84th minute for Pranjal Bhumij, who made a short cameo for his team.
Raju Gaikwad- 5.5
Raju had a decent run and looked much more settled in defence after being on the bench for the last two games. He did well despite his team’s loss and may start once again in the upcoming game.
Abinas Ruidas- 8.0
Ruidas had a wonderful game and is continually building on his performances as a left-back. His upward trend in defending can be clearly seen as he made 3 clearances and 8 crosses from the deep and wide positions. If he continues at the same rate, he might even become the first choice left back for India in the future. Stephen, are you looking?
Sehnaj Singh- 6.5
Sehnaj dominated the midfield for the home team but had nothing to show for it at the final whistle. Teddy Sheringham spoke of Mumbai City’s physical gameplay and the ringmaster for it was Sehnaj, certainly. The former Mohun Bagan player has been a consistent figure at the heart of midfield and will be relied upon by Guimares till Zakeer Mundampara comes back into the fold.
Balwant Singh- 7.0
Balwant showed his versatility as an attacking player and pushed his team forward. Although he started on the left wing, Balwant was a force to be reckoned with down the middle of the park. Even though he did not score, he was responsible for 36% of his team’s shots.
Substitutes
Sanju Pradhan-6.0
Pradhan made another substitute performance and played as a wing back as the defence shifted to a 3 at the back with his arrival. Off the 24 touches he had, he put in one block, made 2 clearances and put in 1 cross into the box. Average.
Pranjal Bhumij- NA
Came on late for a cameo and did well by shooting a stunner which Debjit Majumdar barely saved. A must watch talent for the future.

ATK
Debjit Majumder- 7.0
Debjit had an average game in front of goal but made a few good saves to rescue his team from yet another winless game. His timely one-handed tip over the bar off Pranjal Bhumij’s excellent shot denied the home team any points and sent the away fans into a furore.
Prabir Das- 5.0
Got into unnecessary scuffles throughout the match and was caught off guard at times. He needs to up his game if the Bengal Tigers want to build on their first victory this year. Off his 66 touches in the game, he completed only 37 passes and looked dismal in defence.
Rupert Nongrum- 4.0
Till he received the yellow card, the Meghalaya born winger looked to be the source of energy for his team. Soon after the booking, he disappeared and did not have much influence anywhere on the pitch. Having a pass accuracy of 50% shows his uncertain game-play and poor performance on the field.
Anwar Ali- 6.5
Anwar Ali is no more a beast in defence that he was when he played for the Islanders; but that did not stop him from being instrumental in all possible ways with his defensive partner, former Manchester United Academy player, Tom Thorpe. Ali may not be dazzling and glamorous but he will get the job done for you, more often than not and so did he against his former side.
Mumbai City FC vs ATk highlights
Ashutosh Mehta- 7.0
Ashutosh Mehta is a Mumbaikar at heart and this showed greatly in his game. He played for ATK as if he was playing at home and looked perfectly comfortable in his position. Ashutosh was jeered by the home supporters for having switched sides, but he did not let that bother him as he was excellent both in attack and defence. It is now in his hand to build on his chance and make the spot his own.
Robin Singh-7.0
Robin Singh, in his interaction with Khel Now, said that he plays for his team and even if he does not score goals, all that matters is his team getting the crucial points. This he showed in today’s game, where he played alongside Premier League legend Robbie Keane and put in a strong performance. Although he limped off injured, Teddy would be proud of the lad for bringing in the gusto that Bengal Tigers needed.
Substitute
Jayesh Rane-NA
Jayesh, another Mumbaikar in the ranks of ATK, made his ISL debut for ATK after a long time out with injury. Everyone knows how instrumental he was for last season's I-league champions Aizawl FC and as and when he comes back to full fitness, he is going to add his flair to ATK.
