The Gaurs sealed the three points, throwing the race for playoffs wide open once again.

Mumbai's unbeaten run of nine games, where they even broke the stellar run of Bengaluru FC, was left in the dust as Goa proved to be their Achilles heel and dispatched the Islanders in style. The Gaurs were obviously the superior side and it showed in all that they did and the way they won.

Watch: Mumbai City FC 0-2 FC Goa highlights

We see how the players fared in the game at the Mumbai Football Arena on Friday night.

Mumbai City FC

Amrinder Singh- 6.0

Amrinder did his fair share of work and tried his best to keep the ball out of his net, but a shaky defence in front of him ensured that a goal was conceded. Singh was always there to collect the ball and seldom caught out of position, but the only keeper to concede in this match, this sums up Amrinder’s night.

Subhasish Bose- 7.0

Tracked the ball, marked his man, slid in when needed and most of all contributed on the whole of the left side of his team’s gameplay. He matched the calibre of his teammates, Paulo Machado and Arnold Issoko, with his excellent game and has truly set the standard for left-backs in India.

He did concede a penalty in the 78th minute but that looked more like the error of the officials, rather than Bose putting in a misstep.

Souvik Chakrabarti- 4.0

Souvik looked like having troubles going forward and did not receive enough support while defending his line. Chakrabarti has seen better days as a footballer and it is truly disappointing to see such level of performance from a player who promised so much in the past. He did put in an important block in the 73rd minute to earn a place in the highlight reel but that’s pretty much what he did.

Raynier Fernandes- 5.5

Raynier had a busy evening against the Gaurs. He won a few crucial balls and made a few passes but looked totally out of his mettle and seemed a little lost on the field of play. The break seems to have had a bad effect on him and he might have lost his mojo for the time being.

Milan Singh- 2.5

Disappointing is a generous word to describe the man who took a yellow in the first half, put his team in constant danger and looked clearly out of sorts. Against Bengaluru, he had one task and he cancelled off Delgado really well, but on Friday, he only looked like the skeleton of the man who helped Mumbai dominate Bengaluru’s midfield.

Anwar Ali- 5.5

The towering giant, in the heart of Mumbai’s defence needed to do more to keep his alertness and his positioning was not that much off as he made 11 clearances and also made sure he ran as fast as he could against one of the fastest attacks in India. Ali has truly had better nights but the lack of a defensive midfielder cost his team a little too much.

Substitutions

Bipin Singh – N/A

Could do little to help his team in any big way, but was instrumental in the late flurry before his team conceded a penalty.

Md Rafique -  N/A

Came in to fill the gaps and could do nothing much.

Vignesh Dakhshinamurthy- N/A

Made his debut on a disappointing night for his team.

FC Goa

Mohammed Nawaz – 7.0

Looked sharp and put in a push above save when called for but his inexperience showed when under higher pressure thought this rarely happened against a toothless Mumbai side. He may be bigger than his former Arrows team-mate Dheeraj but has been the underdog in his string of good performances.

Seriton Fernandes – 6.5

Taking a yellow for his team in the 11th minute, but he put in a dogged display throughout. He never looked offbeat but was certainly was pressured till the end of the game despite his side comfortably leading. He was the machine doing simple yet meaningful things for his team throughout the night.

Mandar Rao Dessai – 7.0

The Goan captain looked tiny against Arnold but his game made him feel like a giant. Although he let Arnold through once where it would truly could have been an equaliser, he maintained a pristine 85% passing accuracy which to his credit was a difficult task against his hefty opponents.

Brandon Fernandes – 8.5

Brandon did not let anyone down tonight. Playing in a free role he looked like in prime form as he took five shots and also created the goal that gave his team the first half lead. Fernandes seems to improve in a regular basis and he looked the vital cog in Goa’s midfield.

Lenny Rodrigues – 8.0

If the midfield was marshalled by Jahouh, it was reinforced by Lenny. He seems to be the answer India were looking for in midfield and may well turn out to be the star man in the days to come. Goa looks like a boulder rolling off a hill with him in the side. Seven tackles, three clearances and a whopping 82% passing accuracy summed the night for the midfield maestro.

Jackichand Singh- 8.0

Jackichand was back in his favourite hunting ground when he wears the blue of India, and he did not disappoint in the orange stripe of Goa. He was incisive and dangerous down the right and if you look back, this has been a great season for the former Royal Wahingdoh man, where he once ruled the roost and was nominated the best I-League player in that solitary season for the club.
