East Bengal sign Jordan O'Doherty and Himanshu Jangra
The club have completed the acquisition of all foreign players.
East Bengal have completed the signings of 24 year old Australian midfielder Jordan O'Doherty and 18 year old Indian winger Himanshu Jangra.
Jordan joins East Bengal on a free transfer after making 18 appearances for Newcastle Jets in the 2021-22 A-League season in Australia. Jordan is a former Australia U-23 international and will be among the youngest foreigners in the 2022-23 ISL.
Himanshu Jangra joins East Bengal on loan from Delhi FC for the 2022-23 season after helping India win the U-20 SAFF Championship earlier this month, scoring three goals in 5 matches. The Haryana teenager has also previously represented India at U15 and U17 level and in 2021 he became the second Indian footballer to be included in the Guardian's 60 Next Generation Players from around the world.
East Bengal's preparation for ISL 2022/23
After acquiring the services of Stephen Constantine as the head coach, the Red & Golds have started their Durand Cup 2022 campaign on a good note. Even though the team earned just one point, the match showcased quite a number of positives.
Ever since joining hands with their new investors, East Bengal have made many signings. Speaking of their Indian contingent, the Red & Golds have added Aniket Jadhav, Naorem Mahesh Singh, Jerry Lalrinzuala, Pritam Singh, Sumeet Passi, VP Suhair, Souvik Chakrabarti, Nabi Hussain Khan, Kamaljit Singh, Naveen Kumar and many others.
The club has also completed signing the foreign contingent. The foreigners are - Ivan Gonzalez, Charalambos Kyriakou, Eliandro, Alex Lima, Cleiton Silva and their latest addition Jordan O'Doherty. East Bengal have also roped in Bino George and Andrew Keith Peterson as their assistant and goalkeeping coaches.
Stephen Constantine's side will be up against Rajasthan United in the Durand Cup on 25th August, 2022. Following this fixture will be the Kolkata derby, which was previously scheduled as the season opener. The club currently has one point in one match, a result of their draw against Indian Navy and will be hopeful of a victory against the Pink Army who have shocked everyone after defeating ATK Mohun Bagan.
