ISL 2023-24: Top 10 countries with most goals

The Indian players did not shy away from contributing with goals in ISL 10.
India’s premier league competition, the Indian Super League (ISL), recently completed its 10th season since its inception in 2014. It was a breathtaking campaign that saw plenty of highs, lows and fabulous football action. One of the major factors behind the ISL’s success is the contribution of foreign players. Once again, they did not disappoint and went on to score a huge number of goals for their respective clubs in the previous season.
Moreover, the 2023-24 season of the ISL saw Indian players make the most of their opportunities. If we look at the number of goals scored by players from a particular country, then the domestic players racked up big numbers.
Keeping the focus on the 2023-24 season of the Indian Super League, here is a look at the top 10 countries whose players contributed with most goals:
10. Albania – 8 Goals
Armando Sadiku scored eight goals in the 2023-24 season of the Indian Super League. Interestingly, the Albanian striker was the only goalscorer from the country in the previous season. His goals were crucial in helping Mohun Bagan reach the playoffs and win the ISL League Winners’ Shield.
9. Argentina – 10 goals
Players from Argentina scored 10 goals in the 2023-24 Indian Super League campaign. Mumbai City’s Jorge Pereyra Diaz scored all of those goals, helping his team win the ISL title.
8. France – 12 goals
The players from France played key roles for their respective clubs. They scored 12 goals in the 2023-24 season and the highest scorer from the country was Punjab FC’s Madih Talal with six. He also recorded 10 assists, the most by an individual player.
7. Fiji – 13 goals
Roy Krishna of Odisha FC scored 13 goals in the 2023-24 Indian Super League campaign, finishing as the joint-highest scorer with Dimitris Diamantakos. Since he is the sole player in the ISL from Fiji, all 13 goals from the country go to his credit.
6. Morocco – 14 goals
Players from African country Morocco scored 14 goals in the 2023-24 season of the Indian Super League. Of them, Noah Sadaoui scored the most. The FC Goa attacker contributed with 11 goals during the 10th season of the competition.
5. Greece – 14 goals
Dimitris Diamantakos of Kerala Blasters scored 13 out of 14 goals scored by Greek players in the previous Indian Super League campaign. He won the Golden Boot award for scoring these goals in fewer matches than Roy Krishna.
4. Brazil – 26 goals
There are plenty of fabulous players from Brazil in the Indian Super League. The individuals from the South American nation scored 26 goals in the 10th season of the league. Diego Mauricio was the highest goal-getter of the lot, scoring 11 goals for Odisha FC.
3. Australia – 37 goals
Australian players were immense during the 2023-24 season of the Indian Super League for their respective outfits.
Of them, Jason Cummings finished the season with the most number of goals. He scored 11 of the 37 goals scored by Australian players.
2. Spain – 44 goals
Spanish players have historically played a key role in almost every single Indian Super League season. The 2023-24 campaign was no different in this regard.
Players from Spain scored 44 goals and Carlos Martinez emerged as the highest goalscorer from the country with 10 goals for FC Goa.
1. India – 134 goals
Indian players were superb in the 2023-24 Indian Super League season. They scored a total of 134 goals during the term. Mumbai City’s Lallianzuala Chhangte had one of his best performances in the competition.
He scored the most goals by an Indian in the 10th season of the ISL, recording 10 goals on top of providing six assists.
