Indian Super League (ISL) outfit Kerala Blasters have completed the signing of Harmanjot Khabra on a multi-year deal, Khel Now can confirm. The player has already left Bengaluru FC, as confirmed by the Blues on Sunday.
"Harmanjot Khabra has signed for Kerala Blasters," a source close to the developments informed Khel Now. We have also learnt that the 33-year-old has put pen to paper on a multi-year deal that will see him represent the Yellow Army beyond the upcoming 2021-22 season. He had offers from other ISL sides as well, but the prospect of playing for the Blasters' ever-present, energetic fans made him take the decision to sign for the Kochi-based outfit.

Khabra's career so far
Having kick-started his football journey at Tata Football Academy, Harmanjot Khabra played for multiple I-League and ISL sides, including Sporting Clube de Goa, East Bengal, Chennaiyin FC and Bengaluru FC. He made his ISL debut in the league's first-ever season in 2014, representing the Marina Machans.
The 33-year-old played for Chennaiyin in the first three seasons of the league, also winning the title with them in 2015. He then repeated the feat at Bengaluru FC in the 2018-19 season.
In the past few seasons, Khabra has been playing for Bengaluru FC. He signed for them in December 2016 initially on a loan deal, before making it permanent six months later. He also won the Federation cup, Calcutta Football League and IFA Shield with East Bengal. Known for his versatility as both a midfielder and a defender, it is clear that he has a winning mentality, which Kerala Blasters will look to benefit from in the seasons ahead.

Kerala Blasters post 2020-21 season
Kerala Blasters had a dismal 2020-21 season, finishing second from bottom in the ISL after winning just three out of 20 matches. They also parted ways with head coach Kibu Vicuna and are currently in the works of identifying his replacement.
The Yellow Army have already signed Vincy Barretto as reported by Khel Now in April and talks are going on with a few other players as well. For long, the Kochi outfit have lacked a leader in the side, and it is expected that the signing of Harmanjot Khabra will fill that void in the upcoming seasons.
