Naro Hari’s late strike helped the Greens earn a point...
Salgaocar Football Club held Churchill Brothers as they registered a hard fought 2-2 draw in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium earlier today. Slagaocar boss Norbert Gonsalves made two changes to his team as striker Aslon Oliveira who scored in the last match against SCG replaced Ronaldo Oliviera, Sanson Pereira was the second new name in the team. While Sagar Limbo, Chesterpaul Lyngdoh, Leander D’cunha and Delbert Fernandes were the new faces in the Churchill’s Starting XI. Churchill started the match on an attacking note but major part of the match was restricted to midfield play. In the 20th minute Churchill wasted an easy chance to take the lead over The Greens when Nicholas Fernandes sent a cross inside the box, but Nash Pereira failed to connect with his foot. However seven minutes later Nicholas found an unmarked Sagar Limbo in the box, who made no mistake to tap the ball home making it 1-0 to the Benaulim side. Two minutes later Salgaocar’s Liston Colaco found well positioned Umesh Harijan from a corner, who fired a powerful right footer past the Churchill defense making it all square. Few minutes late Salgaocar should have taken the lead but Liston Colaco’s shot was denied by the post. On crossing over, Salgaocar had another chance to take the lead but this time also Liston’s shot rebounded off the far post. After that play was restricted to midfield for the rest of the 35 minutes of the second session. Once again Churchill forged ahead through Nash Pereira’s goal, Nicholas was the architect of the event. Salgaocar tried hard to equalize and finally in the 90th minute, super sub Naro Hari Shrestha's shot from the edge of the box settled in fge nylons putting the terms back level. SFC will stick to top position with 11 points from 5 outings while CB will remain at the bottom of the table with just 1 point from 3 matches.Report by Khel Now Correspondent Ravish Narvekar from Goa .
