Top 10 active footballers with most goals in club football
These elite goalscorers have scored goals week in and week out in the last decade and are still going strong today.
It's a privilege to see players scoring goals in every game and adding to their unbroken streak of years. Achieving so many goals each year necessitates a great deal of determination and distinct skills. And today, we have the greatest players of our generation who continue to befuddle us with their goalscoring competency.
And, as is customary, the goalscoring chart has been dominated by two of the game's greatest players, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, but in this list, we have ranked the top ten scorers who have made their mark in football.
10. Romelu Lukaku - 276
Lukaku could not be a reliable player, but his existence on the field always has an impact. He has played for several clubs over the years, but his consistency has been insufficient. However, after joining Inter Lukaku enjoyed a prolific career. He is a great goal scorer, but he has had unsuccessful spells with Chelsea and Manchester United.
Despite the fact that the Belgian forward has scored 276 club goals in his career, which makes him a quality striker in Europe and the 29-year-old will continue to expand his goalscoring record.
9. Neymar - 292
Due to his failure to live up to his potential, the Brazilian is the most despised player in football. But his Barcelona career was exemplary; he was a terror on the left flank and could take on any defender. With 287 club goals as of now, the 30-year-old has a few more years to add more goals to his glittering career. He is one of the few non-strikers who has frequently found the back of the net.
8. Edin Dzeko - 320
It's a shame that fans rarely discuss about Dzeko's keen for goals, the most underappreciated player in football. He is a silent goalscoring machine, and it is remarkable that Dzeko is still scoring goals. Many recognise his time at City, but despite not scoring many goals in a season, the player has managed to remain Europe's top striker.
7. Edinson Cavani - 367
The Uruguayan has often gone unnoticed, but he is a top striker with a prolific career and still possesses great striking skills. He is PSG's all-time leading scorer and a sensational player known for his no-nonsense demeanour on the field. Cavani has joined Valencia and will look to simulate his goalscoring mastery in LaLiga.
6. Karim Benzema - 403
Benzema did not make Real Madrid fans miss Cristiano Ronaldo, the player has kept up his goalscoring form admirably and is now on the verge of winning his first Ballon d'Or. Last season, the player was gun-blazing, and it's safe to assume the Frenchman seems to be on his way to 400 career goals. There were many frustrating moments in his career, but the player remained patient and has now taken on the role of captain much better, scoring 393 goals in his club career.
5. Luis Suarez - 449
When he competed with Messi and Ronaldo for the Golden Boot in La Liga, he made both look like conventional players. However, his goalscoring potential was overshadowed by Messi and Ronaldo, but Suarez did not abandon his scoring traits and went on to become one of Europe's top scorers, with 445 club goals.
Aside from scoring goals, the player also served as a playmaker, with 35 assists for club and country. And is one of the few active players who has continued to score goals.

4. Zlatan Ibrahimovic - 492
With over 492 club goals in his career, Ibrahimovic is in his 40s and yet scoring goals. The Swedish player has been playing since the 1990s and does not appear to be stagnating. What's more extraordinary, he is still Milan's first-choice striker. In his career, he has represented a variety of clubs but has yet to win the most coveted trophy, the Champions League. The 41-year-old deserves praise for his endurance and has the possibility of achieving 500 club goals before his retirement.
3. Robert Lewandowski - 532
At the moment, he is the only striker in his 30s who has kept his scoring excellence, and he is still at the peak of his career with 12 goals for his new club. The Polish striker has had a prolific goalscoring career and has 509 club career goals while still being effective. The player deserves a Ballon d'Or for his performance in 2020, but he could not collect any prize due to Covid-19 outbreak. The 34-year-old will aspire to replicate his Bayern Munich career at Barcelona and will hope win the most coveted award, he has craved for.
2. Lionel Messi - 700
He is a player who can score goals on his own, Messi ranks second in club goals scored in his career. Messi is not only a goalscorer but also a provider who has now shifted his role and operates as a playmaker, but the Argentine is still scoring goals and is on the edge of breaking another record. The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner is Barcelona’s all-time leading goalscorer. He is a complete player, dribbling and providing goals to his teammates with his vision. The 35-year-old has been productive this season and will do everything in his power to help PSG win the Champions League.
1. Cristiano Ronaldo - 709
No player comes close to Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of goal-scoring, and the fact that he is 37 years old and still breaking records speaks volumes about his longevity. He remains unrivalled in football history, having scored 700 club career goals, and future generations will have to work hard to surpass his record. Ronaldo is also the leading scorer in International football and also the highest goalscorers in the history of football.
Ronaldo is a hell-bent player who consistently delivers in every game; he does well in big games and performs commendably under pressure. The player is still making headlines and will surely amass more goals in the coming games.
