The Spanish star has now retired from football

Gerard Piqué has admitted that it’s time for England to win the Euro 2024 after the Three Lions came close to winning the competition but lost the final to Italy.

The Danes will be the opponents in Group C for Gareth Southgate’s team in a rematch of their Euro 2020 semi-final, which they won 2-1 in extra time in July 2021 before succumbing to Italy in the championship match.

In their first match on Sunday, June 16, England will travel to Gelsenkirchen to play Serbia, who placed second in qualification Group G behind Hungary. England have not played Serbia since their 2006 breakup with Montenegro.

They play Denmark four days later in Frankfurt. On Tuesday, June 25, in Cologne, they play Slovenia, whom they defeated in the World Cup 2010 last group match that they had to win to advance to the knockout stages.

Gerrard Pique has backed England to win the Euro in July, and further claimed Spain are not in the pole position to win the competition, speaking to Sky Sports he said: ”I think they are not the favourites they are in transition time where they are lot of young players and France is the clear favourite in my opinion and i think its time for England to win it. It’s always good for England because my past there in Manchester United”

Southgate’s strongest asset in Germany is going to be England’s attacking options, spearheaded by Harry Kane, the team’s record goalscorer and captain.

Since joining Bayern Munich from Tottenham, the 30-year-old striker has shown in the Bundesliga that he is as close to a goal guarantee as England could hope for. As always, our fingers are crossed that he doesn’t get hurt or have any bad luck.

Along with Kane, Southgate has exceptional players at his disposal, like Jack Grealish and Phil Foden of Manchester City and Bukayo Saka of Arsenal. Although the management is now marginalising Raheem Sterling, he has shown indications of being back to his best at Chelsea.
