Al Hilal lift King's Cup 2024 after penalty shootout win against Al Nassr
Al Hilal won their 11th title
Al Hilal won the Saudi King’s Cup 2024 after claiming a dramatic penalty shootout win over Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr. Both teams played a 1-1 draw at the end of the 90 minutes as well as the 120th-minute mark.
Yassine Bounou was the hero of the winning team, who finished the match with nine players. Al Nassr also ended the match with 10 men.
This was the last game of the season for both clubs, so both managers started a strong team. Bounou started in goal for the league winners. Lodi, Al-Bulaihi, Koulibaly and Abdulhamid were a part of the back four. Al Faraj and Ruben Neves started in the midfield. Aleksandar Mitrovic led the attack along with Al Dawsari, Malcom and Michel.
Cristiano Ronaldo was the leader of the pack for Al Nassr. Saido Mane and Yahya played on the wings. Brozovic, Otavio and Alkhaibari sat in the midfield. Alex Telles, Alawjami, Al-Amri and Al Ghanam protected David Ospina in goal.
The Saudi Pro League winner took an early lead. Malcom created a chance down the right. His header found Mitrovic in the middle and he was not going to make any mistake. David Ospina was unable to make a save and his side was trailing 1-0 at halftime. Al Nassr created more chances in the half but were unable to get past Bounou in the goal. The first half saw six yellow cards.

Al Nassr were handed a huge favour by Al Hilal’s defender Ali Al-Bulaihi. The defender headbutted the opposition player and was sent off in the 87th minute. One minute later Ayman Yahya scored the equaliser. Al Hilal were reduced to nine men after Koulibaly was sent off for his second booking of the evening. This turned the match in favour of Ronaldo’s side. The final went into extra time.
After going goalless in extra time, the match went into penalties and Al Hilal won 5-4.
