Al Hilal knocked out Al Ittihad of the AFC Champions League
Saudi Pro League leaders Al Hilal have created a new world record. A 2-0 win against Al Ittihad in the AFC Champions League 2023-24 took Al Hilal’s winning streak to 28 matches.
The Saudi club wrote their name in the history books after this famous win. They surpassed Welsh side The New Saints, who won 27 consecutive matches in 2016.
Al Hilal haven’t dropped a point since 21 September. Dhamk were the last club that held the Saudi giants to a draw. This 1-1 draw triggered Jorge Jesus’ men and they have been on a winning streak since then. Neymar also played in that draw against Dhamk.
From that day onwards, Jesus’ men have won 16 league games, nine AFC Champions League games and three Saudi King’s Cup matches. In addition to this, the Saudi Pro League leaders have netted 81 goals and only conceded seven. Their average of goals scored per match is around three and the team only concedes a goal in four matches. Aleksandar Mitrovic has scored 26 of his side’s 81 goals during the winning run.
Managed by former Benfica and Flamengo boss Jorge Jesus, Al-Hilal are 12 points clear of Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr at the top of the Saudi Pro League.

Al Hilal are eyeing their fifth AFC Champions League title. They reached the last four of the competition with a 4-0 aggregate win over their rivals, Al Ittihad.
“This is truly an incredible achievement and I want to thank everyone at the club for their part in this momentous winning record,” Al Hilal coach Jorge Jesus said.
“As I have said throughout this period, however, records do not matter as much as trophies. It is up to everyone at Al Hilal to ensure that we close out the season as Roshn Saudi League champions and meet our targets in the cup competitions. Only then can we truly celebrate.”
