Garnacho won the FA Cup with Manchester United this season

According to rumours, Argentina have requested that Manchester United release Alejandro Garnacho for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. And as they consider whether to let Garnacho play for his country before the upcoming campaign, the Red Devils are stuck in a losing predicament.

With 10 goals and five assists in 50 games across all competitions last season, the 19-year-old proved to be an important member of Erik ten Hag’s team.

He intends to advance further the following term, but if he plays Argentina at the Olympics in the French capital, his plans may be severely interfered with.

TNT Sports Argentina reports that Javier Mascherano wishes to include Garnacho on his team for the Games football competition.

It will take place from July 26 to August 11, a span of two weeks that coincides with a critical preseason phase when Manchester United will be preparing for an enhanced 2024–25 campaign.

Argentina are anticipated to do well in the football competition, which puts Garnacho at risk of missing a significant amount of practice and the Community Shield match on 10 August versus Manchester City.

According to the report, Mascherano requested the services of the Red Devils’ No. 17 this summer and is currently awaiting word from Chelsea over Enzo Fernandez and Aston Villa on Emi Martinez.

Ensuring that Erik ten Hag’s team does not experience the same chronic injury problems as last season is one of INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s top priorities.

Before rescuing it with an FA Cup triumph last Saturday, the Dutchman had almost 60 distinct incidents of illness or injury, which greatly contributed to a miserable second year in charge.

There wouldn’t be much time for a suitable amount of rest before the following season if Garnacho competes in the Olympics, particularly if the world champions finish in the lead.
