The Catalan outfit will have to sell some players in order to register Olmo.

Barcelona face a massive issue despite signing Dani Olmo for a big sum from RB Leipzig. The Spanish club currently cannot register the forward. It remains to be seen if the club will be able to register him before the start of the new season.

It is understood that they will have to first sell some players in order to register him in the first team. The club spent €55 million ($60 million), with an additional €7 million due in potential add-ons, to sign the player from the German club. Olmo penned a six-year contract until 2030 with a release clause of €500m.

However, despite their spending, they are now facing a major stumbling block in registering Olmo. This isn’t the first instance where the club have failed to register a player. It has occurred many times before. They had to sell some players to register new signings.

This has been mainly due to the financial issues Barcelona have faced since 2021. The club are still recovering from financial problems. This has made it challenging for them to either register a player or spend big every transfer window.

Dani Olmo was the club’s first signing after their pursuit of Nico Williams came to a standstill. Williams decided to continue at Athletic Bilbao. But reports claim that the club are still looking to sign a player who can operate from the left wing.

The club’s financial mess has resulted in LaLiga restricting them from overspending. If they break the rule, they won’t be able to register players, which could prove to be a major advantage for other clubs as they will be able to sign them for free.

Barcelona will have to sell more players in order to generate profit. Selling one of their stars could significantly help the club. But so far, they haven’t done enough business during this summer transfer window.

Meanwhile, their rival Real Madrid have assembled one of the most exciting teams. If Barca are to challenge them for LaLiga in the upcoming season then they should move quickly in the transfer window.
