Bundesliga 2023-24: Team of the Season
Bayer Leverkusen ended the season as invincibles
The 2023-24 season of the German Bundesliga will go down in history as one of the most memorable campaigns. It was the season when Bayern Munich’s streak of 11 consecutive league wins was finally snapped by an unstoppable, undefeated Bayer Leverkusen side led by the brilliant Xabi Alonso.
Throughout the 2023-24 campaign, Bayer Leverkusen players outwitted their opponents, recorded impressive late comebacks, and guided the club to a first-ever Bundesliga title. Individual brilliance was not only limited to the players of the Werkself, as key figures from other clubs also stood out with outstanding performances across the campaign.
As the curtains fell on an eventful season, here is a look at Khel Now’s 2023-24 Bundesliga Team of the Season:
Bundesliga 2023-24 TOTS
GK – Oliver Baumann (TSG Hoffenheim)
Oliver Baumann was head and shoulders above the rest of the goalkeepers in the Bundesliga. The custodian made 146 saves, the most in the league and 22 more than the second-best goalkeeper.
RB – Jeremie Frimpong (Bayer Leverkusen)
Jeremie Frimpong’s attacking threat from the wings was a dangerous weapon in Bayer Leverkusen’s armoury. He scored nine goals and provided nine assists in the competition, which are mindblowing numbers for a full-back.
CB – Jonathan Tah (Bayer Leverkusen)
Bayer Leverkusen’s defensive solidity across the 2023-24 Bundesliga season can be attributed to their leader at the back, Jonathan Tah. The centre-back helped the side keep 12 clean sheets and also contributed with four goals.
CB – Waldemar Anton (VfB Stuttgart)
Waldemar Anton received a German national team call-up after sensational performances throughout the 2023-24 season for VfB Stuttgart, the surprise package of the season. He made 39 tackles, 40 interceptions, and 148 clearances during an impressive term which saw his team finish above Bayern Munich in second place.
LB – Alejandro Grimaldo (Bayer Leverkusen)
Alejandro Grimaldo will go down as one of the best free signings in the history of the Bundesliga. The full-back was breathtaking throughout the term, producing 13 assists (the most in the league) and 10 goals from a full-back role.
CDM – Granit Xhaka (Bayer Leverkusen)
Granit Xhaka was the driving force behind Bayer Leverkusen dominating the competition and winning the Bundesliga without tasting defeat. The midfielder made 3003 accurate passes, the most in the division for any player.

RW – Leroy Sane (Bayern Munich)
Leroy Sane performed well consistently in an otherwise disappointing campaign for Bayern Munich. The winger completed the most dribbles in the league (92) and made 11 assists, the second most in the competition for the 2023-24 season.
LW – Jamal Musiala (Bayern Munich)
Jamal Musiala often emerged as a player in a league of his own. The attacker kept Bayern Munich flying with 10 goals and six assists. His intricate dribbling also mesmerized the crowd and it bodes well to remember that Musiala is only 21 years old with a huge future ahead of him.
CAM – Florian Wirtz (Bayer Leverkusen)
Florian Wirtz is regarded as one of the best attacking players in Europe after his excellent performance for Bayer Leverkusen during the 2023-24 season. He was impressive across all competitions but in the Bundesliga alone, the 21-year-old produced 11 goals and 11 assists for the Werkself.
ST – Serhou Guirassy (VfB Stuttgart)
Guiding Stuttgart to a second-place finish and attaining UEFA Champions League qualification could not have been possible without Serhou Guirassy’s 28 goals and two assists. The 28-year-old finished the season with a goal conversion rate of 30.43%, better than that of Harry Kane.
ST – Harry Kane (Bayern Munich)
Harry Kane’s first season in the German Bundesliga may have ended without a trophy but the England International walked away with the Golden Boot after scoring 36 goals. He also provided eight assists in the process.
