The French forward scored 90 goals for the Red Devils

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has decided to leave Old Trafford as soon as his contract expires at the end of June. Martial arrived at Old Trafford in 2015 from Ligue 1 club AS Monaco and has managed to score 90 goals for United.

Martial has been suffering from recurrent injuries and has not been part of the playing XI consistently. The Frenchman was also left out of the team in Manchester United’s 2-1 FA Cup win against Manchester City last week.

The 28-year-old has already announced that he is leaving the club after nine long years. He thanked the club and the fans for supporting him during his time at Old Trafford during happy as well as the tough times. The forward expressed his emotion and now wants to start a new chapter in a different club.

So, as Martial is leaving, let us take a look at the top five clubs that can sign him during the summer transfer window.

5. Marseille

There were already rumours that Martial was going to move to Marseille last year. However, that move did not go through. He does have experience playing in the French league because of his time at Monaco.

Despite the added rumours, the club said that there were no such discussions and those were just rumours. However, reports stated that Marseille were not happy after getting no response from Martial despite repeated conversations. So, if they do come out with an offer for him yet again, the 28-year-old could find himself playing in his home country.

4. Al-Ahli

There has been a growing trend recently, of star players choosing the Saudi Pro League as a possible destination. After all the salary that they are offering is outrageous.

Many Premier League players have also moved to the league recently. Reports say that Al-Ahli, a Saudi club is interested in signing Martial this season and are reported to pay him a hefty salary plus also a signing bonus. However, although the salary will be mouth-watering, it will be interesting to see if Martial will want to leave Europe at the age of just 28 years.

3. Olympique Lyonnais

Martial is a product of the youth system of Lyon and knows the club inside out. So, there may be a situation that Lyon might make a move for him when his contract expires. However, they had already rejected the chance of getting him last year, as they were not willing to pay his £250,000-a-week wages.

Moreover, no club, apart from Saudi clubs will be willing to pay such a high salary to him and hence his chances get reduced. However, with the change in manager at the end of 2023, Lyon might have a change of plans and want to bring back their youth system product.

2. Fenerbahce

Fenerbahce were the main club who wanted Martial in the January transfer window. They were eager to sign him in January 2024.

However, Martial rejected a move to the Turkish club and wanted to fight for his place at the Old Trafford. Martial’s former teammate, Fred has already seen his career blossom after moving to the Turkish club. If interest comes yet again from Fenerbahce, Martial will want to go to the Turkish club and play with his friend.

1. Inter Milan

Reports state that Inter Milan are the club who are most interested in landing Martial in the summer transfer window. However, the only condition is that if they fail to sign Albert Gudmundsson in the summer transfer window.

However, as Martial is a free agent, he will be a cheaper option than the Iceland star who is under contract till 2027. If 90 goals United forward does find himself in Inter Milan colours, he will get a good opportunity to restart his drowning career.
