Which three clubs were promoted to Premier League from EFL Championship 2023-24?
Two clubs that got relegated to the Championship in 2022-23 have immediately bounced back
The EFL Championship 2023-24 started with three new faces after the 2022-23 edition. After getting relegated from the 2022-23 Premier League competition, the likes of Leicester City, Leeds United and Southampton swallowed their pride and joined the second tier for the 2023-24 season.
For the 2023-24 PL campaign, Burnley, Sheffield United and Championship play-off winners Luton Town were the promoted sides. Among the three; Leicester City, Leeds United and Southampton; two have bounced back immediately to the English first tier after just a season-long stay in the second division. The following three sides are going up to the Premier League for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
Leicester City: EFL Championship 2023-24 winners
Do you think only the Premier League title race was a close contest in English football? Think again.
Well, Manchester City may have done their business on the final matchday of the PL but things were also rattling on a similar wavelength in the Championship. Leicester City who unwantedly had to drop a division after an 18th-place PL finish in 2022-23, have bounced back immediately.
At the start of the season, the Foxes’ sole objective was to clinch the second division title and gain automatic promotion to the PL. After 46 league games and 97 points on the league table, they did end up doing just that.
Ipswich Town: EFL Championship 2023-24 runners-up
With Leicester City securing one of the two automatic qualification spots, it was Ipswich Town who grabbed the remaining one.
Ipswich Town have been a sight to watch since the appointment of Kieran McKenna back in December 2021. The new style of play under McKenna has been very free-flowing.
Just last season, a second-place finish in EFL League One led them to the Championship. Now they have managed to move a step up this season as well. The Tractor Boys narrowly missed out on the league title after finishing a point behind Leicester. Still, a runners-up finish has earned them the call to the PL.

The final promotion spot was earned at the Wembley Stadium
Southampton ended up getting the third and final spot for the Premier League promotion. Their journey however wasn’t as simple as the other two.
The Saints missed out on the automatic promotion spot by a mile. They managed 87 points on the Championship table which earned them a fourth-place finish. This meant entering the playoffs with Leeds United, West Brom and Norwich.
They had to play West Brom in the playoff semi-finals. After the 0-0 first leg, a 3-1 win at home in the second leg led them to the Championship playoffs finals. This is where they met the Peacocks who also were seeking an immediate bounce back to the PL.
Nevertheless, at Wembley Stadium, Adam Armstrong’s 24th-minute solo strike was enough to propel them immediately back to the big league – the Premier League. The final three that got promoted from the 2023-24 EFL Championship are – Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton.
