Bayer Leverkusen are the team in the limelight this season. They have taken the world by storm as they are unbeaten for 51 games this season. Xabi Alonso’s team have broken a 59-year-old UEFA record. Leverkusen became the first-ever invincible team in a season in the Bundesliga history after a win on the final day against Augsburg.

One player who has been performing strongly for the Leverkusen team this season is wing-back Jeremie Frimpong. Man is one of the best right-backs in the world currently. However, he does have a cheap release clause in his contract which is €40m. Hence, he is of great interest in the upcoming summer transfer window. Four clubs are looking to get him in the summer and increase the quality of their squad. In this article, we will take a look at the five possible destinations for the wing-back in the upcoming summer transfer window.

4. Manchester United

Manchester United have had a very poor season this year. The team has attracted severe criticism due to the lack of quality players who have failed to perform. The Red Devils need serious reinforcements in the summer transfer window. They are definitely targeting Jeremie Frimpong, who will boost their right side of attack. However, I don’t think that his profile will fit Manchester United’s style of play. United traditionally plays with a right-back and he is a wing-back. Manchester United will need an experienced coach to get him on the board and influence him to play as a right-back. We can not say it surely as of now as the future of Erik Ten Hag as a manager of Manchester United next season is not clear.

3. Manchester City

No player will regret moving to Manchester City in the current situation. Pep Guardiola’s side are a beast of a club as of now. Manchester City are set for a fourth consecutive EPL title if they don’t falter in their final game of the season. They are interested in signing Jeremie Frimpong. Frimpong also spent nine years in the Manchester City academy before he joined Celtic. Joining Manchester City back will provide Frimpong with regular and consistent opportunities to win titles in his career. However, Manchester City also don’t play with a typical wing-back profile. However, a coach of the stature of Pep Guardiola can definitely influence Frimpong to adapt to a new role.

2. Arsenal

If Arsenal gets adamant about bringing Frimpong in the summer transfer window, then Mikel Arteta should have planned a change in the tactical set-up next season. Ben White plays in the right-back spot and I don’t think he is going to lose that spot for the time being. However, if Arsenal does proceed with their interest and brings him in the side, it means that Mikel Arteta has a different plan for Frimpong or he desperately wants a new flair of a player in his squad.

1. Real Madrid

When Real Madrid comes in calling, very few can say a ‘No’ to them. The greatest club in the world, a dream for any player to wear that Royal white jersey. The Los Blancos always provide any player with name, fame and opportunity to win titles every damn season. Meanwhile, Real Madrid are building a squad for the future with young players. They are very close to landing Kylian Mbappe for free in the summer. Dani Carvajal is on the wrong side of his age. So, Los Blancos will need a good replacement for the Spaniard. Frimpong can take his career to the next level if he manages to finalise his move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Possible stay at Bayer Leverkusen

Coming to the most important point – Why does he need to change his club in the first place? Bayer Leverkusen are on a roll this season under Xabi Alonso. They have won the Bundesliga title and can also go unbeaten. They do have a serious chance to win the Europa League and are confirmed to play in the Champions League next season. Xabi has also announced that Frimpong is staying in the next season and so are the other star players. Why does Frimpong need to change anything that is already working well for him? He has the opportunity to grow more under Xabi and contribute to his success.
