The Ecuador national football team made their Copa America debut back in 1939. Since then they have made 29 appearances in this competition. The 2024 Copa America will be their 30th.

La Tri will be led by Felix Sanchez on the touchlines. Sanchez previously managed the Qatar national football team before getting appointed by Ecuador in March 2023. The Spaniard has unveiled the 26 man roster needed to enter the Copa America this June.

Under his leadership, we currently see Ecuador in the fifth standing of the CONMEBOL 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. They have so far played six fixtures winning three and drawing two while only one was a defeat. These wins include two against very tough opponents. They won against Uruguay 2-1 and later succeeded with a 1-0 win against Chile.

The first 2024 Copa America opponent on La Tri’s schedule is Venezuela. It is the opening fixture from Group B set to take place on 23 June. Before entering this competition, Felix Sanchez’s men have three friendlies lined up. Firstly they will take on the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner and defending champions of Copa America, Argentina on June 10. Later Bolivia and the final friendly is against Honduras.
