A look at the top performers from the Europa Conference League

The UEFA Europa Conference League 2023-24 concluded with Olympiacos winning their first major European honour by defeating Fiorentina. Both sides played in a closely contested final, and the Greek side won 1-0 deep into extra time.

Olympiacos also became the first Greek club to win a major European honour. Ayoub El Kaabi once again made the difference by scoring the winning goal in the final. He added another goal to his overall tally for the competition and won an individual honour as well.

Ayoub El Kaabi was at the top of his game in Europe. He was the main threat for the Greek side heading into the final. El Kaabi scored 10 goals in eight games before the final.

The Moroccan forward scored five goals against Aston Villa in the two-legged semi-final. A hat-trick in the first leg turned the tie into Olympiacos’ favour. He then netted a brace and booked a place in the finals for his side. His last goal of the competition came in the most crucial match of the season. The forward scored 34 times in 50 games across all competitions.

Eran Zahavi of Maccabi Tel Aviv finished second with eight goals. Bruno Petkovic was behind him in third position with seven goals.

Fares Chaibi of Eintracht Frankfurt recorded the most assists in the tournament. He created six goals in seven games for the German club.

Fiorentina lost back-to-back Conference League finals. Last year, they failed to beat West Ham and this time the Greek side broke their hearts.

As the exciting season ended, let’s take a look at who were the top performers in the competition.
