A Selecao are in Group F and will play their first match against Finland
Portugal have announced their team for the 2024 European Championship. In less than a month, the competition will begin in Germany, and many of the participating countries have begun naming their teams.
As they attempt to win it all, nations like France and the Netherlands have announced strong rosters of players. Portugal, the 2016 Euro winners and one of the favourites, announced their team on Tuesday afternoon.
It is maybe not surprising that Roberto Martinez chose to bring in Cristiano Ronaldo, the former great player for Real Madrid and Manchester United.
Stars from the Premier League, including Ruben Dias, Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Jota, and Bernardo Silva, were also included in the tentative team.
With 14 goals to his credit, the 39-year-old leads the tournament in goals scored and has participated in the most games (25) of any player. Despite his team’s failure to win the league this season—Al Nassr—he tops the scoring charts in the Saudi Pro League with 33 goals and 11 assists.
The squad is scheduled to play three exhibitions before the competition. On June 4 at José Alvalade Stadium in Finland, on June 8 at the National Stadium in Croatia, as well as June 11 at Aveiro Municipal Field in the Republic of Ireland.
