PSG lift Coupe de France 2023-24 trophy; Kylian Mbappe wins silverware on final appearance

The club from Paris won their 15th domestic cup
PSG are the winners of the Coupe de France 2023-24 after a 2-1 win over Lyon in the final. Luis Enrique’s men complete a domestic double in the 2023-24 season.
This was also a farewell game for Kylian Mbappe, who is set to leave the club. Paris St. Germain won their 15th Coupe de France title.
Lyon headed into the final of the domestic cup after making a huge recovery in the league. They sat in the relegation zone in the first few weeks of the season. Lyon ended the season in sixth position and made it to Europe. PSG, on the other hand, won the Ligue 1 crown and were the favourites to win the match.
Pierre Sage named a strong starting 11 for this match. Lucas Perri was in goal for Lyon. Nicolas Tagliafico, Duje Caleta-Car, Jake O’Brien and Clinton Mata completed the back four. Corentin Tolisso, Nemanja Matic and Maxence Caqueret sat in the midfield. Alexandre Lacazette led the attack with Said Benrahma and Ryan Cherki.

Gianluigi Donnarumma was in the goal for the French champions. Nuno Mendes, Lucas Beraldo, Marquinhos and Achraf Hakimi were a part of the defence. Fabian Ruiz, Vitinha and Warren Zaire Emery completed the midfield three. Kylian Mbappe led the attack with Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembele.
PSG took the lead in the 22nd minute after Ousmane Dembele got at the end of Nuno Mendes’ pass. Fabian Ruiz doubled the lead for his side in the 34th minute. The French champions led 2-0 at the end of the first half.
Lyon took the momentum at the start of the second half. Ryan Cherki’s cross came perfectly for Jake O’Brien, who scored a goal back for his side. The underdogs were back in the match.
The scoreline remained the same and Enrique’s men went on to lift the trophy. Mbappe ended his time at PSG with a win in the final match.
