Los Blancos have done it again, they have won the 15th Champions League title

Real Madrid have done it. ‘A Por La 15’ is now not a dream but a realization. Los Blancos becomes the first team in Europe to win 15 UEFA Champions League titles thanks to goals from Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Junior.

The Wembley Stadium was brought to life with two of the best football teams in Europe. The 60,000-seater stadium was fully packed for the UEFA Champions League 2023-24 finals between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid. This was the third UCL final at the Wembley venue having previously featured the 2011 and 2013 editions.

The former Dortmund manager, JĂŒrgen Klopp, who was on the losing end back in 2013 against Bayern Munich was one of the faces in the crowd. Even former Madrid manager, JosĂ© Mourinho, who seems Turkey bound to join Fenerbahçe.

Edin Terzić was on the sidelines of the German side working with a 4-3-3 setup. Marco Reus who is set to leave the club this summer was on the bench.

Real Madrid on the other hand went with their usual 4-3-1-2 formation. Toni Kroos who is set to leave Los Blancos started off the match alongside Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde in the midfield. Up top it was the usual duo of Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo supported by Englishman Jude Bellingham.

In the first half, Die Schwarzgelben surprised everyone. They created a lot of chances like Karim Adeyemi squaring the opposition goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, Julian Brandt’s shot and even Niclas FĂŒllkrug hitting the post. Madrid can be said to be lucky heading into the tunnels with 0-0 still on the scoreline.

Slovenian referee Damir Skomina, after the break, blowed the whistle to continue the game where it was left of. Carlo Ancelotti’s side was unchanged after the halftime break so was that of their opponents. After completing an hour on the clock, the game stood at 0-0 with three yellow cards shown so far. Marcel Sabitzer and Nico Schlotterbeck from the team in yellow sleeves while Junior from men in all white.

The first goal of the game finally arrived in the 74 minute as Dani Carvajal headed home off a Kroos corner kick. Before the goal only Marco Reus was substituted on, after the first goal SĂ©bastien Haller and Donyell Malen also were bought on by Terzić.

Dortmund keeper Gregor Kobel did made a few spectacular saves after the first goal but couldn’t do much after Ian Maatsen’s mistake that led to the second by Vini Junior in the 83rd minute. Los Blancos made their changes with 2-0 lead, bringing in Joselu and Luke Modric.

The German side couldn’t win once again at Wembley after their 2013 failed attempt. Nevertheless it was a journey worth watching. Madrid ends up celebrating their 15th title with 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in the 2023-24 UEFA Champions League final.
