The Brazilain star is the current favourite to win the Ballon d’Or 2024

According to reports, Saudi Pro League team Al-Ahli are ready to offer Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr. a lucrative contract that will make him the highest-paid athlete in the world, ahead of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and MLB icons.

Earlier, the Brazilian was not interested in leaving the club, but a new offer could entice the forward to join Saudi Arabia, and he has now not ruled out the move to the Middle East, rumours suggest.

However, it is believed that Al-Ahli have yet to sum up the audacious offer, but the talks will take place soon between both parties.

The club already have Vinicius’ former Brazilian teammate Roberto Firmino and are said to be piecing together a remarkable €1 billion (£854 million or $1.1 billion) package. The largest contract ever seen in professional sports is supposedly being prepared for Vinicius.

However, the Vinicius Jr. agents have already informed the Saudi club that it will take the highest salary ever seen in sporting history to agree to a personal deal with the Madrid star.

But reaching an agreement with the Los Blancos will be a problem despite his 1b release clause, despite that Al-Ahli feel they can strike a deal with the Spanish around €300 million (£256 million/$328 million) in transfer fee, which could break the Paris Saint-Germain transfer record of €222 million (£190 million/$243 million) for the acquisition of Neymar from FC Barcelona in 2017.

Once the Middle East club presents their offer, it will be up to the Brazilian player to make a decision on his future. If he accepts their €1 billion contract, it will see him surpass the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and even MLB star Shohei Ohtani, who penned a $700 million (£547 million) agreement with the LA Dodgers in December 2023.

This will be one of the biggest signings for the Saudi Pro League and Al-Ahli, but they have yet to enter into any talks with the player or club about his signing.

However, Saudi clubs have made it no secret, and their past signings are a testament that they will go to any extent to sign top European stars playing in the best football leagues.
